It would be interesting to understand the sense of such of info. Not event Ukraine has used 85% of this power. So why to spread these fakes?

For example, I didn't undestand why Occidental mass-medias continuously said that Shoigu had an heart attack, that Gerasimov was removed, that Dvornikov had been killed. When all these things always revelead to be false.

Why?

Then I heard an interesting answer to this question. When these info was spreaded, Shoigu, Gerasimov and Dvornikov were untraceable: NATO obviously tries to track these persons. If these persons are untraceable, it is spread that they are removed, or dead, or sick, in the hope that someone, trying to keep in touch with them, makes possible, through electronic warfare, to identify their position.

I don't know if it is true, but I found that plausibile, and it give an answer to something that otherwise has absolutly no sense at all.

So, why to spread continuously that Putin each day has a new illness (when it is clear that Biden it is much worse), when it is clear that is in good health as far as possible at his age?

Why to spread continuously that Russia has finished its weapons, when we heard this by the first day? Maybe in order to try to force Russia to make it clear that is not true, indiscriminately bombing cities, rather than to concentrate the efforts against punctual military infrastructures? So that Russia will truely waste its weapons toward useless targets?
There must be a strategic reason that is not to shoot random bullshits.

Wait for the next injection of HIMARS, Russia will be screwed and I hope the Czechnians start invading Russia.

What I have to say? I will wait. At the moment, it is the usual info that we heard since 24 Febryary.

Russia is running out of major steam and doesn't have the means anymore to achieve objectives. Outstanding military failure.

Putin so desperately in need of weapons he had to beg Iran for drones. Majority of Russian weapons depots have been destroyed now by the new missile systems we are sending Ukraine.

Russia running out of cannon fodder or manpower in general. So desperately in need of man power, that apparently DPRK is sending slaves to help rebuild border towns in Russia.

Ukraine made very quick work with the remaining Russian weapons with the HIMARS. Can't wait for the new round of systems going to Ukraine become operational. Who knows may give enough edge for Ukraine to take back or attack Crimea!

Well just chalk it up to the same type of disinformation as Ukraine is full of fascist or better yet corrupt.
Or nato is going to lay siege Moscow.
These accusation coming from Russia where hilarious.
What do you expect from nations at war. You fight war on all fronts and lying and disinformation is expected.
If you don’t use it you don’t want to win bad enough.

Agree. It is an obvious falsehood: "Russia has committed nearly 85% of its military to the war in Ukraine." Reported by PBS Nick Schifrin, and claiming this is from: "from Senior U.S. Defense Official on the war in Ukraine." Does the official have a name?

Because I would like to know who we are paying that can't do basic math. Please get that official some remedial mathematics courses.

Russia has 1 million active military personnel, 2 million reserve military personnel.
The obvious falsehood that Russia has committed "85 percent" of its military to Ukraine is clearly absurd. You don't need to be an "intelligence" or "defense" official to realize that. I would hope.

So for context, understand the 3 million combined Russian military would be about 7-8.5 percent of the actual population of Ukraine. So basically this PBS reporter claims a "USA Defense Official" (who shall not be named?) wants us to believe that the Russian military are almost 10 percent of the population of Ukraine now. And no one even thinks to ask ?????
(Imagine if a "media" "reporter" was claiming that USA had 85 percent of its military fighting in Iraq War. People who can do math would literally laugh at the report. But here when it is Russia, the same level of misinformation can be taken as a sober intelligence assessment. And no one even asks us to suspend disbelief, because it is assumed that we will, because after all, it is about Russia.)

It is a reasonable question to ask why people publish such obvious misinformation.
I would like to believe they really don't understand what they are stating, but there is also a dedicated information operations misinformation campaign (not only within Russia and Ukraine, but also among other nations) on the Russia/Ukraine war. The misinformation campaigns further undermine public trust, at a uniquely bad time in history.

On the other hand, such obvious misinformation from this PBS reporter helps provide another "media" source to block on social media, and of course Twitter could care less about such misinformation - because it is "good misinformation."

And the really sad thing is that every time they make such obvious misinformation statements, other people will start to ask themselves... "and what else are they not telling the truth about?" This does not help in a war against Russia and its cruel oppression against Ukrainian people. It only helps Russia.

Wrong. Propaganda numbers.

55 seconds of straight facts. 👏👆Not calling you a bot, just the video presents the true numbers.

Thanks for pointing out I had a typo - 7-8.5 percent, which I corrected.
I do make typos. And try to correct them.
This PBS / "U.S. Defense Official" report is so ridiculously and obviously wrong.
Could you imagine someone reporting that USA military had represented nearly 10 percent of the population of Iraq? But we are told to believe this when it comes to Russian and Ukraine.

I don't care what you have to say. Conjectures and false narratives have been spewed since day 1 from the ruskies. <snip>

Regarding someone questioning the numbers of Russian military as the reports of a "bot" -
Regarding "Propaganda numbers"
Here are facts - not YouTube defaming videos to mock - but actual defense factual reports
-- Russia military 1 million active military personnel (Source: International Institute for Strategic Studies (25 February 2021). The Military Balance 2021. London: Routledge. p. 191. ISBN 9781032012278.)
-- Russia military 2 million active military personnel (Source: International Institute for Strategic Studies (25 February 2021). The Military Balance 2021. London: Routledge. p. 191. ISBN 9781032012278.)

I am surprised/disappointed to see a number on Twitter claiming to ex-military, etc., buying this nonsense 85 percent number of Russia military in Ukraine. Critical thinking! It is a country of 140M+. You have to know Russia has at least 1 million in active military - not to mention millions in reserves.
This is not USA, but Russia, which has focused its history on massive military expenditures recruitment, and those of us in 1991 know that contributed to USSR's downfall.

But why is this a surprise?

Top 10 Countries with the Highest Number of Active-Duty and Reserve Military Personnel (in members):
Vietnam: 5,482,000
South Korea: 3,699,000
China: 3,355,000
Russian Federation: 3,014,000
India: 2,610,550
United States: 2,233,050
North Korea: 1,880,000
Taiwan: 1,820,000
Brazil: 1,706,500
Pakistan: 1,204,000

I guess this depends on how you define "the military". The 85% figure is perhaps useful as a news item targeted at the average Joe Sixpack, but an experienced militaryman would - justifiably - balk at it.

Going more in-depth, military capability is an extremely complex issue that cannot be boiled down to a simple headcount. It just can't. Now - I don't know where the 85% figure comes from, but it is clear, at least, that the Russian ground forces are fully engaged in Ukraine. Units from all military districts are deployed; there are verified reports of Russia stripping its garrisons, both overseas and domestic - even in sensitive places close to the NATO border - to beef up the UA invasion force; their stockpiles of advanced weapons are significantly depleted, old armor is being pulled out of storage, logistics are struggling (the Russian military wasn't exactly a logistical powerhouse to begin with), there's ongoing economic mobilization to shore up arms production, Russia is actively draining Belarus of its weapons stockpiles, etc., etc. Whether all this represents "85% involvement" is a moot point since the question itself doesn't really make sense, but the claim that Russia is at least chest-deep (and quite possibly neck-deep) in this dodo seems plausible.

So we can find a way to rationalize an outrageous remark. But facts do matter. Even when there are those who will call you a "bot" for daring to discuss them.

There is a good argument that Russia has 125 battalion tactical groups (BTGs) with 800 soldiers in Ukraine. That is 100,000 military personnel. Or you could argue there are 168 BTGs (134,400).

But 850,000 military personnel (among just active)? Because that is what 85 percent would really mean.

At some point, we need to be candid about claims being made allegedly by a "U.S. Defense Official" and PBS being a PR mouthpiece not even stopping to think to report them. It really further undermines public trust.

For example, Forbes can make an effort to accurately debate such topics without obvious misinformation.

I’m looking at this more from the perspective of what this million man army is supposed to be capable of.
Cruise missiles plowing randomly into high rises, a logistics system that failed on a two front war. It’s also reported they have 4000 planes. Did their early attempt at taking airfields reflect a large successful air deployment of capability.
They have how many tanks does that include T-62’s?
Part of the measurement of their army was valued on their development of the Armata. Well we’re are the armatas?
The reports you sure are all prior to the war. There have been many military intelligence assessments of Russia that have had to be rethought.

Another thing that confronts Russia is they have a large country that will continue to have to be larger percentages of the military deployed to.
Ukraine is concentrated to a very much smaller area.

"Russia and Ukraine signed a landmark deal on Friday to reopen Ukrainian Black Sea ports for grain exports"

-- And this is while Europe is back to buying Russian fuel... while they make a hypocritical pretense of helping war against Russia. But the Ukraine people are being told they should still sacrifice their lives for a war against Russia. At what point do the Ukraine people say "enough"?

Ukraine President Zelenskyy can negotiate port activity for grain exports, but he will not negotiate to protect the lives of the Ukrainian people. Russia is of course wrong in its cruel invasion. But Zelenskyy is also wrong in perpetuating this war, claiming he won't negotiate with Russia over dirt, to stop more women and children from being killed, while trade is a perfectly good negotiation point. It's not right to the Ukrainian people.

I am sorry, I still don't see one child's life worth a foot of dirt or a building. To those of you in U.S., I urge you to look at your family members. Which of their lives are worth being lost over land and (now destroyed) buildings? I understand the military-focused position sees things as "targets," battle zones, etc., but these are human lives, where people live. U.S. should be encouraging this terrible Russian invasion in Ukraine to stop, and for Ukraine to find a compromise position to protect their public. Not depending on sending more HIMARS.

I’m looking at this more from the perspective of what this million man army is supposed to be capable of.
The problem with buying the IO campaigns are that we all know that Russia has not used a "million man" army and it is still using its form of "restraint," no matter how brutal that may seem to small Ukrainian nation. Russia is just stretching it out. Waiting for NATO public to find another interest. Waiting for DEFCONs to drop. Waiting for Ukraine people to eventually be exhausted from war.

A true full, all-on war by Russia, would be totally different and we all know it, regardless of what the IO campaigns say. For one: Kyiv would be gone - not some buildings destroyed, and public killed, with a defiant Zelenskyy strutting around in a military outfit.

Russia has been a vicious cat playing the Ukraine military and people as a mouse. Their vicious level of "restraint" is still a shock and horror to decent people. But we need to stop deceiving ourselves with the IO that "this is all Russia has." Maybe PBS wants to publish such baloney, but we know better. And we are not "bots" or fans of Russia to have such knowledge.

I think that would be crossing the line and srsly provoke a wmd event...Putler drove a truck across that bridge into crimea and gave his speech from that port , if he concedes it that would be a deathblow for him and his ambitions as leader.
