Peace through diplomacy is the only way. IMO Something is about to happen by the west (strike on Russia, or enter Ukraine) and it will go terrible.
You mean the other way around. Russia is the only one threatening to escalate with nuclear weapons or first strike scenarios on NATO supply chains.

The West has not threatened Russia as Russia has threatened the West. The West simply pledges more sanctions on Russia and aid to Ukraine.

If sanctions & aid to Ukraine requires a nuclear response from Russia. Then that says a lot about Putin and how much of a child he is mentally. Luckily because of this he will likly be deposed before it gets to that point. Truly irrational leaders tend to die suddenly or removed.

The West has threatened nothing against Russia directly. Only Russia has threatened to escalate with nuclear weapons or threaten to first strike. NOT the West.

"NATO" dithered for 6 months, with USA providing most of the Ukraine military supplies. It is almost 8 months now.
And why couldn't Ukraine develop defenses for the past 30 years, some would (unfairly) ask?

But when they waited until Russia annexed Donbass region with a referendum formally accepted by Russia govt that changed the circumstances. (You think Russia cares what the U.N. thinks?) Nuclear power Russia now view this Russia territory, and USA providing missiles for Ukraine to fight there is "attacking Russia." Now Russia considers it Russian territory, which as they repeat today they will defend with nuclear weapons.

And of course, Russia is obviously serious and sent jets today towards USA to remind POTUS this. UK Defense Minister Wallace is now in DC to discuss security matters, no doubt of a nuclear nature.

Ukraine rightly feels that it should be able to do more than "defend" itself, but to also exercise a "counter-offensive" against Russia. OK, but when they do that with USA or NATO equipment, they are declaring war on Russia for us. But in USA, "We The People," didn't give that right to Ukraine military to declare war. on Russia That is still Congress' responsibility based on our Constitution.

Unlike the majority, who believe the Russia's only nuclear threat is to Ukraine, I totally believe Russia is targeting USA with nuclear weapons right now today. And our government and our leadership is insane if they do not de-escalate that situation. This is not a Patrick Henry moment; this is a Jimmy Carter Iran hostage moment.

On a global scale, the Russia/Soviet military mind is thinking how about neutralizing its superpower enemies as its top priority. We have the complaints about Ukraine being used as a "proxy war" of the USA against Russia. In fact, Russia is using the Ukraine war as a "proxy war" against USA. They simply have not needed to declare it yet. For India and China's sake, they are waiting for USA to make more mistakes.
Do you know of a source other than Sky News for the claim that Wallace is in DC unexpectedly?

Listen everyone here and now in the free & civilized world:

Please heed this warning. You should be scared for our future and our childrens future. If we do not make a stand right here and now our days of a free civilized world will come to end. We must call Putins bluff. If we don't the tyrants win an will only be futher enabled to go on and create even greater global crises.

We don't know what this will lead to but we the free & civilized world needs to make a stand here and now. If we don't our days are number.

WHICH a even more enabled Tyrant(s) will bring even bigger and more dire crises in the future with even greater potential of conflict.
Wow. Never thought I'd hear this coming from you. But your so very incredibly right. We need to stand strong. We have to make a stand. No more bending to dictators.

We let Putin get off here, North Korea becomes an unbearable situation. They are already showing signs they will try to nuclear blackmail the world. Iran as well.

What makes you think Putin is bluffing? Escalating nuclear war is the quickest way to end the world. The only role the US should play in this is negotiating a peace deal.

I have not heard such a speech like this in a long time. From the heart and honest down to the letter. We have to make a stand or we will lose everything anyways.

So scary what this could lead to. But letting tryants get away with anymore then they already have is even more scary. Fantastic and horrifying post DN.

They're clearly seeing that it might work from Russia. If Ukraine loses, we'll see a similar situation between NK and SK, likely China and Taiwan, and Iran and Israel.

100% correct. Again we need to make a stand here and now. Otherwise greater conflicts with even greater potential of global conflict will happen in the future all resulting from letting Tyrants get away with anything more here and now.

The West needs to put its foot down and keep it down on Tyrants throats by any means necessary (not military). We cannot allow them to fester/grow anymore in the world. Our very future depends on it.

I appreciate the effort, but there isn’t anything here that points to unscheduled and expedited mysterious meeting. It merely validated that a meeting occurred.
Q: Thanks, sir. James Matthews from Sky News in the U.K. Ben Wallace, the U.K.'s defense secretary, is in Washington today. Is he discussing the use of nuclear weapons or the response to the use of nuclear weapons?

GEN. RYDER: So he's here today to discuss the Ukraine situation and the U.S. and UK joint efforts to support Ukraine, as well as to, again, reaffirm the transatlantic ties and cooperation that our two countries share when it comes to issues like Russia. Again, we'll put a readout out later today detailing the meeting.

Q: (Inaudible) Minister seemed to suggest on Sky News this morning that discussions were taking place that were, in his words, "beyond belief." Can you illuminate us as to what he might have meant?

GEN. RYDER: Yeah, I'd have to refer you back to the Minister for any comments he may have made. Thank you. Appreciate it.

It was an emergency meeting.

UK and US hold urgent talks over Russia's use of Iranian kamikaze drones

Ben Wallace flew to Washington for an urgent meeting with his US counterpart on Tuesday to discuss Russia’s use of drones to attack Kyiv.

The meeting came ahead of a delivery of new Nato systems to shore up Ukraine's air defences, after two attacks on the Ukrainian capital in a week, killing at least three people.

Ukraine has called for the West to provide it with better defences to stop it being “terrorised” by strikes on civilians using kamikaze drones and missiles.

Iran will send more drones and surface-to-surface missiles to Russia, sources in Tehran told Reuters on Tuesday, adding to the urgency of calls for more weapons.

The Defence Secretary and Lloyd Austin, the US secretary of defence, met at the Pentagon after Mr Wallace cancelled a planned appearance in front of a committee of MPs.

Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, the US Department of Defence press secretary, said they had discussed the “ongoing support to Ukraine by our two nations, as well as the continued importance of transatlantic and regional security cooperation in light of Russia's attack in Ukraine”.

Following the meeting, Brigadier General Ryder provided the following readout: "Secretary of Defence Lloyd J. Austin III met UK Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace today at the Pentagon to reaffirm the US-UK defence relationship across a wide range of shared defence and security priorities, including Ukraine.

"Their meeting today was a continuation of their discussions at NATO defence ministerial meetings in Brussels last week. They discussed ongoing efforts to support Ukraine, including through the provision of security assistance, and the importance of transatlantic cooperation and regional security in light of Russia’s continued brutal attack on Ukraine."

Tuesday's summit was described by one source as a “planning meeting” as they prepared to respond to Russian aggression.

Mr Austin is understood to have requested the pair meet in person following a bilateral meeting at a Nato conference in Brussels last week.

At the conference, it was announced that the West would send more rockets and drones to Ukraine in response to a run of attacks by Russia on Kyiv using missiles and kamikaze drones.

State-of-the-art advanced medium-range air-to-air missile rockets pledged by Mr Wallace last week can knock cruise missiles out of the sky, while a fleet of drones will be used by Ukraine to gather intelligence from the sky.

Jens Stoltenberg, the Nato Secretary General, said on Tuesday that deliveries of the new air defence systems would begin in the coming days to counter the threat of drones, including the Shahed-136 type supplied by Iran.

Since the summit, Ukraine has said Russian drone attacks have destroyed almost a third of its power stations, which came in response to a string of setbacks for the Kremlin on the front line in Crimea.

A defence source said the Defence Secretary and his US counterpart’s meeting was held to discuss “shared security concerns, including Ukraine”.

It was speculated by another source close to discussions that the meeting had been held in person because of concerns about the security of communications between the Pentagon and Ministry of Defence.

But the source also conceded a physical visit would emphasise friendly relations between Britain and America to foreign observers.

"It's a good reminder that ultimately the US's closest security partner is the UK,” they said. “The close cooperation we see on Ukraine is why this relationship is so strong."

Liz Truss has also spoken to Emmanuel Macron, the French President, about what a Downing Street spokesman described as the leaders’ “deep concern at Russia’s recent barbaric attacks on civilian areas in Ukraine”.

'West no longer controls the skies in combat'

It comes as Major General James Martin, the Commander of Britain’s Warfighting Division, warned that the proliferation of drones means the West no longer controls the skies in combat.

Major General Martin spoke to The Telegraph in Sennelager, Germany, ahead of Exercise Cerberus, the field Army’s biggest wargaming exercise to take place in Europe in over a decade.

“We don’t assume we have control of air space anymore,” he said.

“We don’t assume we have air superiority or supremacy as we have done in the Middle East. We now assume that we will have limited windows of opportunities to do what we want to do. That’s the difference between fighting a peer adversary vs fighting a counter insurgency.”

Major General Martin added that the “proliferation” of drones in modern warfare “has almost democratised use of the air and aerial surveillance”, because they are so cheap and readily available.

Asked if the exercise was sending a message to Russia, Major General Martin said: “We are absolutely demonstrating to our opponents and our allies and partners that we are ready to fight.

“To the former that we have both the will and capability to fight and to the latter that we are committed and in solidarity with them.

“On both those counts we take this trip deadly seriously. I think a demonstrable UK will to use military force on the continent of Europe is one of the critical outputs of Exercise Cerberus.”

Some things are worth fighting for.

Exactly the opposite. He is not bluffing and fast approaching point where he will feel he has nothing to loose.
And darknoons point still remains. Nobody wins in war, the question is, do I want a single nuke on ukraine that pretty much destroys Russia and turns the world against them, or do I want some massive crisis because we were too scared to face a threat?
Fear is the best weapon. Showing fear is showing weakness, and showing weakness is a death sentence in war. Show fear, somebody will give you something to fear. These are common themes from street violence to state violence.
