Re-Emergence of Nuclear Energy

I just saw an article which says they may have made some headway on cold fusion. That would open up nuclear power greatly.
It's not possible. It violates the laws of physics, to overcome strong nuclear forces you MUST put energy into the system. A group of scientists popularised cold fusion in the 80s with some dodgy research.

It's not possible with current technology.

At one point, men said powered flight was not possible. Later, they insisted the sound barrier could never be broken. I never listen to anyone who say something is impossible, because history is full of humans accomplishing the impossible. If you want to say "not possible with existing technology," that's an accurate statement. But to simply state something is impossible because it violates the laws of physics is shortsighted and unimaginative.

I Feel like a complete idiot, I knew something I said was wrong. Its electrostatic repulsion not strong nuclear force.
Apologies.

Also, I refer you to this site. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/NucEne/coubar.html . It shows quite clearly that in order for fusion to be achieved, you need large quantities of energy. I don't see how cold fusion is possible, even with technology a hundred years more advanced as you will always have electrostatic forces (they're one of the fundamental forces of the universe). Saying cold fusion is possible is like saying you can cancel out gravity, or that you can walk through a solid wall.

annnnnd there’s this
Hehehehe, the irony and hypocrisy of politics
Announce your going to go green and then on the sly change the definitions
Does this mean nuclear and NG are renewables now as well?

On the whole I’m good with it it’s just the hypocrisy of it all.

Ah, my first post. I remember reading the director's post on the forums and thinking "I've got to respond to this, cold fusion just isn't possible!", then I thought about making an account for a few days, then finally made an account.

Didn't Hillary Clinton give Russian access to U.S. uranium?
Its complicated but the word "give" isn't something I'd use in describing that. Also it is something that could have and has likly ended since February when Russia invaded Ukraine.

We the US have a lot of Uranium. Russia couldn't produce it financially feasibly or sustainable financially. Why not sell it at the time? Not like they don't already have 6000 nukes so not like we where enabling their nuclear weapons program. They where obviously using it for power plants of which they have many.

Not sure why people where all up in arms selling Russians Uranium. What are they going to do with it that they already haven't, not like they already have largest nuclear arsenal in the world. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😂

Not like American Uranium is better than Russian. Power Plant grade Uranium is the same anywhere. So again not sure what the big deal was. If we made a few bucks at the time I didn't see a problem in it. What where they going to do with our Uranium they have not already done themselves cynically (bombs).
