Well it sure doesn’t sound like Russian air defenses are very good.

For sure 😁

The one with canard wings was making enough noise to be heard from inside.
Again I could be all wet on this but I seriously doubt these drones were launched from anywhere but inside Russia.
If anyone who might have some expertise in this please chime in if I’m incorrect.

I can see multiple scenarios, the one you outline being one.

The number of drones being reported is curious to me as well. Initial report of 10, revised down to 8 officially and 30 plus unoficially according to one source:

The Russian defence ministry said eight drones targeted the city overnight but Russian media close to the security services wrote that the number was many times higher, with more than 30 drones participating in the attack.

🤔

Again, UKR is using DJI drones, maximum flight time is 20 minutes on the battery. The attacks on Moscow are from MOSCOW.

That’s certainly a valid possibility, but there’s not enough information yet to state that with certainty. Ukraine has the expertise to mount a drone attack on Moscow if it wanted to.

I would be far more suprised if they didn't have operatives in Russia that could launch these attacks. No doubt they are in contact with underground networks in Russia created by Russian partisans. I mean, where do people expect these Russians to get explosive material? You can only work with ammonium nitrate for so long before someone starts connecting the dots.

I could mount an offensive in Russia right now if I wanted at this rate of security. Enough $$ people will do anything.

Well that is interesting, I guess compared to the cost of most military weaponry $300-400 is a pretty cheap weapon.

There is also stand-off distance for operators.

What’s also interesting in the article is this tid-bit
Recently, it has become known that, in terms of drones, buyers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have bought up almost the entire market of FPV drone components in China, according to indirect estimates, by 50-100 thousand units

Now take this type of basic operator controlled drone. And add to it AI drone swarms that communicate with each other.

Welcome to the future.
