This is where nationalism goes wrong. when it’s militarized. It should also be pointed out that in terms of recent history particularly. It is always a shortsighted and inferior choice. Belarus is no more Russian than Kaliengrad is Prussian or Germany/Poland. Putin is hoping to ethnically nationalize a historically fictional empire of Novorossiya.

As opposed to as nationalism that conserves and protects what is good about a culture as opposed to the former forcing one culture upon another. That’s the difference.

The Swiss are very nationalistic yet they have virtually no standing army. But they have defended their nations strengths for centuries. They don’t seek to impose their will on others. But they have worked very hard at not letting others do this to them.
