Trump, Putin Summit

You're also not at war with Ukraine
Of course we are not. What does that possibly have to do with a summit between the USA and Russia. We are not at war with every country listed in the UN.
(which you keep calling "the Ukraine" for some reason).
I also say “The UN” and not just “United Nations”

But it is a fair point. When I was a child we were deep in the Cold War. As part of the USSR, it was referred to as “The Ukraine”. Thats what I learned and it sounds right to me. I will attempt to only say Ukraine going forward. Sorry it bothered you.
And yet the leader of that country is met with infantile disrespect in DC. Got anything to say about that?
I had nothing to do with that. I thought then and I think now it was a bit over the top. Of course I would wear a suit to the White House. I thought the problem was more attitude. He was demanding things from the USA. We don’t need to put up with him cultivating his trademark look and being disrespectful and demanding. I would have cut him some slack re the pressure he is under. But having him leave when nothing productive was going to occur is ok too.
As noted above, I'll ignore the personal slurs. Feel free to insult me some more if that makes you feel happy, Mr. DWS Staff Member. :giggle:
Nice cheap shot. I don’t and have never gone after anyone for anything the say while debating with or in discussions with me. Ever. Say whatever you feel is right. You just did.

Earlier there was a formal report filed. The rules against posting conspiracy theories exist, are known and need to be followed.

I certainly had a short straw to get a complaint while I’m in it up to my neck with the rest of you. However that’s a different rule. As far as insulting each other, if you are a regular and want to get in a spirited debate with others then I am normally extremely lenient.

Your remark shows you certainly don’t feel this way. So be it. I shall leave you to your devices, unless there is a problem.

I didn’t think TDS was actually real until I had to read all the new posts. Several of you with normally sane views, even far to the left have succumbed. Creditable people who have lost the ability to exercise critical thinking and are instead stuck on “Orange man bad” over and over. That screen shot is the biggest pile of bullshit any of you have tried to pass off yet since the Russians invaded Ukraine.

It is stupidly asinine. I would expect that from 3rd graders, maybe second.

The USA is not at war with Russia. In fact we have full diplomatic relations and missions. The leader of the third* most powerful country in the world is not meet with infantile disrespect. Long running protocols are followed in each meeting. Why? Because we are not at war with Russia.

If you truly believe those airmen were genuflecting to Putin, IMO you are beyond reasoning and cannot be considered to be thoughtful, insightful or even grounded in reality. It makes me sad.

* Personally I think with their pathetic performance in the Ukraine it’s clear Russia would probably not be in the top five if not for their aging (and unsupportable) legacy inventory of nuclear weapons. I want to put them behind India but the sheer number of fizzle pops they can attempt to fire is still a viable threat.
Hey I’m not military, maybe being on your knees anywhere near enemy aircraft is considered respectful.

Nothing lasts forever. But what a great empire it was while he remained in charge...
Hahaha 13 years. ATG was a sociopathic warlord who went on a killing spree for 13 years and was possibly poisoned by one or more of his generals.
So maybe the whole problem here is what it is you regard as a great empire.

Even more ironically he was exponentially more worse in his evil warlike genocidal acts which so many love accuse Putin of being.

Amazing, simply amazing
What exactly am I missing? I certainly would feel like the smallest man alive if I was being forced to be on bootlicking duty for Putin. If I’m missing some customs or something I will concede but immediately upon seeing said photo I 1. Knew they weren’t bowing down 2. Knew they were performing a task that is already meant to humiliate them to some extent but in front of Putin.

Of course we are not. What does that possibly have to do with a summit between the USA and Russia.
What indeed. You claimed that the reason Trump was being extra nice to Putin was because "we are not at war with Russia". I'm just debunking that argument - turns out you can be not at war with someone and still treat them like s**t.

OK, fair point, though it's still bad grammar. During the Cold War it was either "the Ukrainian SSR" (where the "the" is justified), or just "Ukraine". Same difference as between "the state of Texas" and "Texas". Then as now, saying "the Ukraine" made about as much sense as saying "I live in the Texas". Apologies for picking nits; language has always been srs bzns for me... Blame my upbringing, I guess.

I suppose at the time Trump would only tolerate a bossy foreigner wearing inappropriate attire and strolling around the Oval like he owned the place if their name was Elon Musk. C'mon; it's clearly not about the clothes, or even about the attitude. Never has been.

The real reason Trump has so far treated Zelensky like s**t is because the guy is a problem that just won't go away. Worse yet - he is what stands between Trump and that dream where he's tongue kissing Putin and remaking America in Russia's image. Given all that, it really should come as no surprise that Zelensky is accorded the same degree of respect as an annoying fly buzzing around the room. Which, of course, tells us a great deal about Trump, and next to nothing about Zelensky. 💁‍♂️

I don't see what any of that has to do with me - other than the fact that it perhaps put you in a bad mood. Tough luck; that's the job of an admin - deal with it if you can; quit if you can't. But like I said, I'm actually fine with being berated. If I'm making a fuss it's for others' sake. :)

That's a fair point. I certainly wouldn't want to live in that empire of his. But when it comes to warfare, he's absolutely worth listening to.

President Trump is about as anti-communist/ socialist as you can get! :ROFLMAO: Ever hear of McCarthyism? You know the red scare of the 50s. Well President Trump was mentored by Roy Cohen the lawyer for McCarthy and was the prosecutor who sent the Rosenburg's to the chair and I'm sure putin knows this!
