⚠️‎ Kuwaiti air defenses are currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks.

‎The General Staff of the Army notes that any explosion sounds heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting the hostile attacks.

‎Everyone is requested to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the competent authorities.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said early Thursday that it targeted a US airbase in Kuwait in response to an American aerial strike near Bandar Abbas Airport in southern Iran.

🔊 At 10:17 p.m. ET on May 27, Iran launched a ballistic missile toward Kuwait that was successfully intercepted by Kuwaiti forces. This egregious ceasefire violation by the Iranian regime occurred hours after Iranian forces launched five one-way attack drones that posed a clear threat in and near the Strait of Hormuz. All drones were successfully intercepted by U.S. forces which also prevented a sixth drone launch from an Iranian ground control site in Bandar Abbas.
U.S. Central Command and regional partners remain vigilant and measured as we continue to defend our forces and interests from unjustified Iranian aggression.

The "Sabrin News" news agency, affiliated with pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, reported explosions in several districts in southern Iran for an unknown reason. In addition, the report claimed that gunfire was heard in the Strait of Hormuz area and that missiles were launched into the Strait from the Iranian city of Bushehr. Apparently, this was an attack on American ships that crossed the Strait in violation of "Iranian rules."

US-Iran 60-day proposal: What we know

The United States and Iran reportedly reached a preliminary memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Thursday, agreeing to extend the ceasefire between the two countries for a further 60 days and to begin negotiations for permanently ending the war, officials said.

Official US sources have told Al Jazeera that the framework still needs President Donald Trump’s final approval.

Here’s what we know so far about the MOU, its terms, aims and what it means for the war.......

Trump:
Iran must agree that they will never have a Nuclear Weapon or Bomb. The Hormuz Strait must be immediately open, no tolls, for unrestricted shipping traffic, in both directions. All water mines (bombs), if any, will be terminated (we have removed, through detonation, numerous such mines with our great underwater mine sweepers. Iran will complete the immediate removal and/or detonation of any mines that are left, which will not be many!). Ships caught in the Strait due to our amazing and unprecedented Naval Blockade, which will now be lifted, may start the process of “heading home!” Say HELLO to your wives, husbands, parents, and families from me, your favorite President! The enriched material, sometimes referred to as “Nuclear Dust,” which is buried deep underground with virtually collapsed mountains, caused by our powerful B2 Bomber attack 11 months ago, sitting on top of it, will be unearthed by the United States (which, it is agreed, is the only Country, along with China, with the mechanical capability of doing so!), in close coordination and conjunction with the Islamic Republic of Iran, plus the International Atomic Energy Agency, and DESTROYED. No money will be exchanged, until further notice. Other items, of far less importance, have been agreed to. I will be meeting now, in the Situation Room, to make a final determination. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Trump meeting to make ‘final determination’ on Iran deal said to end with no decision

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he was entering the White House Situation Room to make a “final determination” on a memorandum of understanding to extend the ceasefire with Iran and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

But the meeting ended after two hours with no decision, a senior administration official told The New York Times, insisting an agreement was still close but required further debate about issues including the unfreezing of Iranian funds.

Announcing the meeting in a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump insisted that Iran’s stockpiles of highly enriched uranium would be extracted and destroyed by the US, even though such a clause is not included in the terms of the MoU.

The New York Times, citing officials:
- Trump tightened the terms of a potential framework for an agreement with Iran and sent the proposed amendments to Tehran.

- Trump was concerned about parts of the agreement involving the release of funds to Iran.

- Trump grew frustrated with the length of time it took Iran to respond to Washington's proposals.
