🕵️‍♂️ | UA-NATO/RU | Signs of Pre-Crisis Environment | REPORTING ONLY

The IAEA has been informed that, for the 19th time since the beginning of the military conflict, the Zaporizhzhya NPP lost all off-site power at around 21:00 local time last night following an attack on an electrical substation on the other side of the Dnipro River.
Operating with only one remaining power line leaves the plant extremely vulnerable to conflict-related grid disruptions as we experience it again today. The ZNPP is currently relying on emergency diesel generators to power the cooling of its six shut-down reactors and maintain other essential nuclear safety functions.

Germany’s Defence Ministry says the German & Dutch Corps will take responsibility for defending Latvia and Estonia. From July 1, 2026, it will serve as a tactical headquarters within NATO planning, leading all NATO subordinated land forces in both Baltic countries.

During the JFC Brunssum visit, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius also framed the upcoming NATO summit around burden sharing and strengthening the defence industrial base under the heading “A More European NATO.”

The European Defence Agency says FPV drone pilots from 14 EU member states trained in Latvia from May 31 to June 5 in the first EU wide course on advanced UAS strike and interception operations.

EDA says the course, organized with the Latvian Armed Forces, is intended as a step toward a European military drone training programme.

U.S. plans to significantly reduce aircraft and warships made available for NATO operations in Europe.

Reported changes include cutting NATO available F-16/F-15E fighters from roughly 150 to 100, maritime reconnaissance aircraft from 26 to 15, removing eight aerial refueling tankers, and redeploying a missile launching submarine, an aircraft carrier, and associated warships/jets.

A NATO spokesperson told Reuters the alliance has historically over relied on U.S. capabilities, and that increased European and Canadian defence investment can shift the responsibility balance.

Lithuania’s Defence Ministry says Lithuania received a new delivery of Bolide missiles for its RBS-70 man portable short range air defense system.

The delivery is worth €7 million, under a broader €320 million contract with Saab Dynamics signed in 2025 for uninterrupted supply from 2026 to 2032.

Lithuania says the laser guided system resists electronic jamming and is effective against modern air threats.

I would caution Igor as a source, he was the source behind the infamous “nuke train” story in 2022.

⚠️🚨
I found no independent confirmation that Nabiullina is under defacto house arrest.

Reuters, Meduza, The Moscow Times, and Russian state media itself even reporting only confirm absence, sick leave as explanation, and rumor & speculation around resignation.

There is zero and I repeat zero credible information out there regarding claims above.

Until independently verified by reputable or government outlets consider this false information.

The UK MOD says Defence Secretary Dan Jarvis opened the Uncrewed Systems Centre at the new DroneTEX facility in Swindon, calling it Europe’s largest drone test and development centre.

The MOD says the site is designed to develop and field uncrewed capabilities in weeks, not years. The release explicitly links the move to lessons from the Ukraine and Iran conflicts. The Strategic Defence Review raised autonomy investment by £2 billion this Parliament, bringing total defence investment in autonomous systems to £4 billion.

The Danish Armed Forces says it is establishing a new AI Center under Defence Command, anchored in the Defence Staff under the deputy chief of defence. Denmark says the goal is to increase combat power and adapt to changes in warfare, including faster observation to decision to action cycles, autonomous systems, and operational AI integration.

The centre will include a staff, project office, and AI lab, and will work with operational units, procurement authorities, NATO allies, industry, and research.

🆕 The Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was reconnected to the grid today following successful repairs of the Ferosplavna back-up power line that were carried out under the protection of an IAEA-brokered localized ceasefire.

In the ZNPP’s 19th loss of off-site power during the military conflict, the plant lost the connection to the 330 kilovolt (kV) line late on Wednesday due to military-related damage, forcing it to rely on emergency diesel generators for the electricity it needs to cool its six shutdown reactors.

Lasting almost three days, it was one of the site’s longest such loss of power events, underlining the extreme fragility of the electrical grid. An IAEA team monitored the repairs near the ZNPP.

UK GOV confirmed the timeline for phasing in its ban on imports of refined oil made from Russian crude via third countries. The temporary licence for diesel and jet fuel will expire by January 1st, 2027, with reviews every two weeks and an intention to lift it earlier if possible.

The UK says the measure targets sanctions evasion routes and follows the May 20th ban on refined oil made from Russian crude in third countries.

UPDATE: Reports say NATO’s top military officer is weighing alternative defense plans for Europe after U.S. cuts to aircraft and warships available for a NATO crisis. The affected U.S. assets reportedly include a carrier strike group, submarines, fighter jets, maritime patrol aircraft, aerial refueling aircraft, and drones.

U.S. space targeting support would remain available.

SACEUR Gen. Alexus Grynkewich said Europe and Canada need to fill gaps with manned and unmanned aircraft and naval vessels “now and in the near term.”
