The Swedish battlegroup in Boden and the Multinational Staff Element in Rovaniemi are being transferred under SACEUR command. Finland says the formation strengthens deterrence and defence in the High North; Sweden says it is framework nation and its 2026 contribution is around 600 personnel, expandable to 1,200.

Ukraine’s civil nuclear infrastructure took another hit overnight: Interfax Ukraine, citing Energoatom, reports that a Russian UAV struck the Centralized Nuclear Spent Fuel Storage Facility site at around 02:10 local time on June 7.

Energoatom says the strike partially destroyed a container reception building, but spent nuclear fuel was not stored there. A roughly 40 sq. m fire was extinguished, no staff casualties were reported, and radiation levels remained normal.
