UA-RU War | NATO Crisis | REPORTS

A commercial ship sank and its crew vanished Tuesday after an apparent coordinated air-and-sea drone attack off NATO member Bulgaria, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blamed Russia before warning Moscow was preparing a broader "massive strike."

A second vessel was also heavily damaged and set ablaze inside Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone, with a drone expert warning the dual precision strikes signaled a dangerous escalation and possible "larger invasion posture" by Russia.

🗣️ Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: When we issued a very clear statement in response to threats from the Baltic and other NATO members to attack the Kaliningrad Region, we were immediately assured that the Alliance had no plans, and could have no plans, to attack Russia, and that NATO was, supposedly, a defensive alliance.

We have heard many times that NATO is a defensive alliance, yet that did not prevent the attacks on Yugoslavia, Afghanistan or Libya.

That is a valid point, actually...

Kaunas said around 100 soldiers would help guard the Lithuanian-Russian border over the next two weeks, according to the Elta news agency.

On Tuesday, Latvian authorities reported that masked and armed individuals escorted a group of 20 irregular migrants to push through the Belarus border into Latvian territory. The masked operatives damaged electrical equipment and stole border surveillance cameras before retreating back into Belarusian territory.

***UPDATE 👆***
Doctors are now fighting to save the lives of people injured in the Russian strike on Kramatorsk. As of now, 30 people have been confirmed killed, and sadly, that number may rise. The Russian bomb effectively hit two city minibuses. Some of those killed have still not been identified because of the severity of their injuries. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Another 18 people were injured in the strike. Residential buildings and cars were also damaged.
This strike will not go unanswered. Russia is trying to destroy all life in Donbas, and a response from the world is a must. A forceful response – exactly as the Russians deserve for all the deaths they have brought. May all those killed rest in peace.

🆕 Putin is reportedly unable to land in Moscow amid drone activity and aerial balloons. Four aircraft from the Rossiya presidential flight unit are said to be circling near Moscow, while the capital’s airports are closed due to the drone threat.

Multiple sources (including Russian Telegram channels and monitors) indicate that as of the latest updates around 14:45–14:50 UTC on 9 October 2026, aircraft from the Rossiya special presidential flight unit—linked to Putin’s return from Turkmenistan—were circling near Moscow and unable to land. Moscow’s main airports (Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Zhukovsky) faced temporary restrictions or closures due to drone threats and aerial balloons.

IKEA stores in Denmark are preparing to serve as emergency shelters - and potentially temporary hospitals - in the event of a major crisis.
According to Reuters, the furniture giant is preparing for scenarios including blackouts, flooding, and attacks on critical infrastructure.
• Showroom beds could provide emergency accommodation.
• Restaurants could supply meals to displaced residents.
• Backup generators could keep facilities operational.
• Additional beds could be assembled from warehouse stock.
IKEA is part of Denmark's crisis preparedness coalition, bringing together more than 200 companies to support society during emergencies. (A front where Denmark is lacking a lot behind, compared to other Scandinavian countries) The preparations come as European countries strengthen civilian resilience amid growing concerns over sabotage and Russian hybrid threats.Europe's security preparations are increasingly extending beyond the military and into everyday civilian infrastructure.
Here in the US we're on our own! Only the 1% gets protected! COG and all that!

Here in the US we're on our own!
While I am unsure if the Constitution permits the Federal government to mandate shelters (it may fall under "common defence"), States certainly could.

You would be adding a substantial amount to a house price, however.
