Iran’s gunboat fires on container ship off Oman coast

An Iranian gunboat has fired on a container vessel near the coast of Oman, according to a British maritime monitoring agency, in an incident that occurred hours after United States President Donald Trump said he would extend a ceasefire with Iran.

The US boarding of an oil tanker in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday shows Washington making good on a pledge to track Iran-linked vessels anywhere in the world, an extension of its enforcement on a blockade of Iranian ports that increases the pressure on Tehran as the Trump administration tries to force concessions to end the war.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said during a Wednesday press briefing that Beijing is fulfilling its "due international obligations" after President Donald Trump said U.S. forces enforcing the blockade of Iran in the Persian Gulf intercepted a vessel carrying what he described as a "gift from China.”

Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir spoke at the IDF Distinguished Service Ceremony at the President's House: "With 'Iron Swords' and 'Gideon's Chariots' we ended the fighting against Hamas, IDF fighters returned all the abductees from Gaza; at these very moments we are conducting intense fighting in Lebanon to strengthen the defense of the northern communities. The IDF maintains high alertness and readiness and is prepared to immediately and powerfully return to fighting in all sectors.”

Helping Iran, China is a party in the war
China may claim neutrality and call for peace in the Middle East, but it is heavily invested in the Iran conflict. Perhaps because of its dependence on Iran for energy security, it is transferring dual-use technologies as well as military items, as has been reported in the media.

China has an arms-supply relationship with Iran that goes back decades and includes evasion of UN sanctions, including getting oil in return for weapons. And, along with Russia and Iran, it has a broader strategic interest in undermining the United States and the US-led international order. This motivation makes China’s actions even more concerning.

Some news/update on the war that may personally matter domestically for people right now rather:

If true all networking infrastructure/devices from US companies is compromised/backdoored to a level we didn't even know was possible (attacked despite being physically cut off from the broader internet).

Same level as the cheap Chinese AliExpress equivalents do for the CCP, and likely like their backdoor, any attacker who can find it can likely exploit it themselves.

Build your own routers ASAP, it's downright trivial
