Donald Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire appears to have come after Iran’s IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency reported that Tehran’s negotiating team has informed the US through Pakistani mediators that it would not be travelling to Islamabad for talks and saw no further prospect for negotiations.Axios reports that senior officials within Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) had been pressuring Iranian officials to boycott the negotiations until the US lifted its blockade on Iranian ports.

According to sources that spoke to Iran's semi-official state media, Tasnim News Agency, "continuing the naval blockade means continuing hostilities" and that Iran would not open the Strait of Hormuz "as long as the naval blockade continues, at least for as long as the naval blockade continues, and will break the blockade by force if necessary."
