Australia said the Army’s 1st Brigade and U.S. Marines rehearsed combined arms operations during Exercise Predators Walk in the Northern Territory.

The training included engineer cooperation, artillery fire support coordination, sensor integration, and live fire offensive & defensive operations.

Australia reported a multinational mission in East New Britain, Papua New Guinea, to dispose of WWII era unexploded ordnance. Personnel were listed from PNG, Australia, Canada, France, Japan, New Zealand, the U.K., and the U.S.

Australia announced Exercise Austral Shield, running July 3rd through the 19th in Western Australia and North Queensland.

More than 1,500 personnel from Navy, Army, Air Force, Space Command, and Cyber Command will train with state and federal agencies on domestic security response, critical infrastructure, and national resource protection.

Taiwan Presidential Office: President Lai visited the Navy Songshan Radar Station and Army Guandu Command, observed an air defense engagement drill, and received briefings on drone and electronic warfare equipment. The readout also noted Guandu Command’s Taipei area defense tasks.

Australia marked completion of the AIR5440 upgrade program for the RAAF’s 12 C-130J Hercules aircraft. Defence said the upgrades include avionics, communications & navigation systems, safety critical software and hardware, mission systems, satellite datalink capability, and instrument approach capability.

Japan & Canada defense equipment and technology agreement enters force. Japan said its defense equipment and technology transfer agreement with Canada entered into force after diplomatic notes were exchanged in Ottawa on June 16th.

The agreement creates a legal framework for government to government defense equipment and technology transfers.

RAAF & Royal Malaysian Air Force personnel conducted a combined aircraft crash exercise at RMAF Base Butterworth, built around a simulated fire near a 92 Wing P-8A Poseidon after a ground refueling incident.

19 Squadron’s role at Butterworth supports regional operations including Operation Gateway and maritime domain awareness patrols across the North Indian Ocean & South China Sea.

Australia said Air Force EOD technicians found an underground Mk-83 1,000 pound bomb, two Mk-82 500 pound bombs, and five artillery rounds during range remediation on Townshend Island.

Defence said four U.S. Air Force EOD technicians joined the activity to practice deep search unexploded ordnance work.

Japan’s Maritime Self Defense Force said JS Kongo conducted joint training in the Western Pacific from June 12th to 20th with Italian, South Korean, Singaporean and Philippine naval and coast guard vessels.

Training included tactical maneuvering, communications, counter drone operations, helicopter cross deck activity and a PHOTOEX.

Australian, U.S., & British personnel tested AI enabled drone swarming tactics during Army Warfighting Experiment 2026 on Salisbury Plain under AUKUS Pillar II.

Operators launched up to six drones simultaneously, while a shared command hub enabled near real time exchange of mission and sensor data. Engineers also evaluated aided target recognition, collaborative sensing and the exchange of AI models between the three countries.

Taiwan’s military is conducting a Combat Readiness Exercise starting today & ending on the 26th as part of its annual joint operations training.

The exercise will test rapid peacetime to wartime transition, priority deployments, joint command and control, logistical sustainment and battlefield preparation using actual troops, terrain and equipment in real time.

Japan’s Joint Staff posted today that a Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning, Renhai class destroyer 104 and Luyang III class destroyer 124 approximately 130 km east of Miyako Island around midnight on June 20th

The group later sailed northwest between Okinawa and Miyako Island into the East China Sea. Japan monitored the vessels with JS Asahi and a P-3C patrol aircraft.
