South Korea's Defense Intelligence Agency assesses that North Korea continues preparing for a possible additional troop deployment to Russia, but has identified no signs of an imminent deployment or working-level movement toward one.
Norway will maintain support for Ukraine in 2027 at approximately the same level as 2026, around US$9 billion. Support will continue across military, humanitarian & financial assistance and follow Ukrainian priorities.
The UK authorized MBDA to release classified information on British components of the SCALP long range missile, allowing France & Ukraine to move forward with establishing local SCALP assembly lines in Ukraine. SCALP uses shared British & French technology with Storm Shadow.
The European Commission approved €6.1 billion in new defense procurement for Ukraine covering air & missile defense systems, missiles, ammunition and radars. The funding is part of the €90 billion Ukraine Support Loan and adds to €16 billion in previously approved procurement plans.
Romania detected two aerial targets 25 km northwest of Snake Island moving toward its border and scrambled two Spanish Air and Space Force F-18s from Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base. A RO-Alert was issued for northern Tulcea County. The contacts disappeared as explosions were reported on the Ukrainian side. No incursion into Romanian airspace was detected.
Russia appears to be preparing another 9M730 Burevestnik test campaign at Novaya Zemlya. Both Il-976 telemetry aircraft are now at Rogachevo air base alongside an A-50U, transport aircraft, helicopters & support vessels positioned in patterns seen during previous tests.
No launch has been confirmed. The Burevestnik is a nuclear powered strategic cruise missile.

German investigators reportedly found a third drone west of Leipzig/Halle Airport with approximately 50 grams of suspected hexogen. Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the government expects to announce who was responsible for the attempted attack shortly.
The airport supports NATO & Ukrainian military logistics. Berlin has not formally attributed the incident. Moscow denies involvement.
Slovak police thwarted a planned arson attack on an unmanned aerial systems factory in eastern Slovakia. Three foreign nationals were detained, including one in Germany, after police seized incendiary material, tools, communications equipment, a camera & a hand drawn site plan.
Approximately 70 employees could have been present. The suspected commissioning party was not identified.
The Swedish Fortifications Agency, acting for the Armed Forces, asked the government to expropriate a Russian citizen’s property at an approach to Muskö Naval Base.
The military assesses the owner as a security threat and says the site is required to strengthen protection against drone surveillance or attack. The application cites the protection of Swedish & NATO defense assets. Government approval remains pending.
Ukraine drafted a one page settlement proposal with U.S. & European officials for presentation to Moscow. Zelensky said the document includes a ceasefire, a U.S. proposal for a free economic zone in Donbas administered by a third party, and an unspecified role for the EU & NATO.
The Kremlin questioned whether a third party could administer territory Russia claims as its own. The document has not been released publicly.
Romanian intelligence reportedly assesses that two Ukrainian suspects detained in Bucharest belong to a sabotage network controlled by Russian state services.
Polish investigative files reportedly connect one suspect to the Berlin weapons cache and both men to preparations for incendiary parcel attacks. German federal prosecutors & Polish authorities declined comment. No formal German attribution has been issued.
Swiss voters will decide on September 27 whether to constitutionally bar cooperation with NATO unless Switzerland faces an attack and prohibit most sanctions against belligerents unless mandated by the UN. The Kremlin backs the proposal. The government and most political parties oppose it.
President Vladimir Putin authorized temporary state administration of critical infrastructure when owners fail to protect sites or delay repairs after attacks. The order covers fuel, energy, industrial, communications, transport and logistics facilities.
Russia plans to extend its diesel export ban through September as refinery outages and domestic shortages persist following repeated Ukrainian deep strikes. Broader restrictions on gasoline and jet fuel exports also remain in effect.
Kazakhstan’s Kondensat refinery will process Russian crude and send about 70 percent of the resulting gasoline and diesel to Russia, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov said. Up to 30 percent will remain in Kazakhstan.

Independent orbital tracking indicates two satellites from Russia’s second 16 spacecraft Rassvet batch are decaying toward reentry after never maneuvering to a higher orbit. None of the batch has climbed above 360 kilometres. Russia is developing Rassvet as an independent low Earth orbit broadband network.

One other thing. If NATO and Russia were genuinely preparing for imminent kinetic action, I would expect the commercial satellite crowd to be screaming by now "abnormal movements at nuclear storage facilities, air bases, or other places". But, again have yet to see anything.
Normal people and private companies have access to imagery today that governments practically had to own a spy program to get decades ago. People routinely watch Russian bases, strategic weapons facilities, nuclear storage sites, airfields and everything else under the sun.
And as far as I have seen, nobody is pointing to some major abnormal physical activity at Russian, European or American strategic facilities that suddenly screams war preparation.
You cannot hide much shit anymore from anyone. You cannot easily hide an entire major war posture from everybody anymore. PERIOD.
So until somebody shows me something physical that actually changed regarding anything strategic, yea. Kinda yawn guys.
NATO Baltic Air Policing aircraft are conducting scheduled training in Estonian airspace from August 24 through August 30. The Estonian Defence Forces says the flights are planned training intended to maintain readiness to respond to air incidents.
AWACS, RC-135 SIGINT, Swedish ISR, tankers and fighter patrols are also consistent with the persistent surveillance and air policing posture maintained along NATO's eastern flank.
