Well he is doing well but this Iran problem has gotten him skewered.
He doesn’t need a possible SCOTUS fight over the war powers act as he very well may be busy being impeached and possibly (most likely) tried. What for? Anything at all.
So Trumpis up against mid terms and this did not stop as fast as everyone thought. Now that he seems unwilling to use ground troops, no one seems worried. I imagine all the surface targets have been hit and subterranean fighter-bases and hidey holes for mobile launchers require extreme precision to neutralize. While the GOP has run cover for him, it will evaporate as mid terms near. IMO Trump missed his chance to effectively use ground forces to influence the outcome. He should have seize every island in the Strat. Now The Iranians are alert and reinforced the toll will be higher. Not much for us but massive for them and that makes winning the peace almost impossible.
With nothing but ungrateful and in dome cases outright cowardice from most of the nations are Earth, there is no reason to continue. We don't need the ME and IF OUR “reliable” allies in NATO turned out to be a half filled bucket of refuse, just how solid are our ME allies going to be against China? Is there an allied term for vaporware?
We really need to call it a day. Concede that we were betrayed, come home and figure out a way to pay our former Nato allies back in kind. Some were loyal and some were duplicitous. Each needs to be repaid in kind.
You’re right about him being tone deaf. It’s part of his nature to never downplay worse yet not talk up his accomplishments. I understand that from guys like him so I throw some sand on it and move on.
A settlement in Iran does have an expiration date politically but I’m not so sure it’s as big a deal as we might think.
Not sure scotus has ever, or can rule on war powers use by a president without a legal plaintiff.
Congress is the only entity that has legal standing to challenge him in court. And a vote would have to occur first. Which Johnson isn’t going to let happen.
In short the only entity that has legal standing to challenge the executive over this is congress.
I feel like there is time yet to wrap it up. In reality short aside from significant loss of American lives it doesn’t really matter. His base is still solid in support. And dem voters will not be changing their minds irregardless.
Because of redistricting republicans could pick up 10 seats in house.
And let’s be honest there is host of enemies AND supposed allies encouraging the IRGC to keep holding out.
Personally I cannot fathom why any western country would hope the Ayatollahs remained in power.
Except of course to continue that old game of ensuring adversarial powers remain forever in the Middle East.
We are already paying nato back we’ve instigated Germany into rearming.
