I'm going to go out on a limb here and say these men don't look very British to me, if this picture is accurate. I'll wager they don't even speak English very well if at all.

UPDATE ON CONFIRMED/SOURCED MATERIAL: RAF Fairford
The U.S. Embassy in London has issued a security alert following the RAF Fairford arrests, urging Americans in Britain to exercise caution and warning that facilities, gatherings and organizations associated with the U.S. may be at heightened risk. The Embassy also notes the UK terrorism threat level remains severe.
A Whelford resident who raised the alarm told BBC Radio 4 she first called MOD Police at RAF Fairford but received no answer, then called 999 at 01:36 BST. She said armed police arrived within roughly 10 minutes. Gloucestershire Police's official chronology says police received a call concerning the three vehicles at 00:45 BST, leaving the timing discrepancy unresolved.
The witness also says she saw more than five people at the scene, with masked men scattering into nearby fields and toward the surrounding area. Police have arrested five and Gloucestershire Police leadership has indicated officers are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
Defence Secretary Wes Streeting thanked the resident for alerting authorities but said she had only “a partial picture” of the security operation and declined further detail on operational security grounds.

Counter Terrorism Police update - c. 1230 UK BST (1130 UTC)

The Counter Terrorism Policing investigation into an incident reported close to RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on Sunday 27 September is continuing.
Specially trained CTP investigators have been examining the scene overnight and have been carrying out a range of activity, which have led to multiple new lines of enquiry.
The nature of this investigation means significant numbers of resources, including military assets, remain deployed at the location, and we thank the public for their ongoing support. We are working hard to minimise disruption to local communities, but ask for their patience, as our work continues at the scene.
A cordon remains in place at the location and will be reviewed later today.
Five men were arrested in Whelford on Sunday morning, following reports of three vehicles travelling towards the airbase at 12.45am.
They were detained on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act and preparation of a terrorist act contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act:
At this time, we are working to establish the full circumstances of the activity of those arrested, their knowledge and any motivation behind this incident.
Counter Terrorism Policing Senior National Coordinator, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans said:
“This is a hugely complex and large-scale operation, involving local and national policing, the MOD, and local agencies, who are working together to progress the investigation and support for the community.
“I know this has been incredibly disruptive for local people, but I’d like to reassure them that our activity is in the interest of national security, but most importantly in the interest of their own safety.
“I’d also like to thank the emergency services for their response, including the armed officers who first attended the scene, not knowing what they may face.
“I am very aware of the levels of speculation about the motivation behind this incident, and the geopolitical questions that are being raised. However, I ask that at this time, CTP are given the space to work carefully and clearly.”

Plane spotters report enhanced security prior to events of Sunday morning.

A young plane spotter named Monty was one of the people who helped me and others to break the RAF Fairford story last night. He posted what he had seen on a local spotting Facebook page, and I just spoke to him by phone. Here’s his account:
“Me and my little cousin are obsessed with planes. We went down on Friday and saw a B-1 take off. Yesterday, about six of us - my cousins, my granddad and me - went back to have a look.
“We were waiting for something to come in, because planes normally arrive at around 6pm. We were the only people there when armed British police officers came over and told us to leave immediately.
“We went to Whelford and parked on a small grassy area to see if anything came in. Nothing did, but we kept seeing police arrive, about four at a time. There were so many that we left.
“I also saw large military vehicles outside the runway area. I think they were JLTVs, or something like that. There hadn’t been much security where we were spotting planes on Friday, but yesterday there were lots of armed American military personnel.
“We saw a few white vans going up and down the road, too. They kept passing us, and the people in them seemed to be looking around. We thought it was strange.”

I'm starting to wonder if the security forces are happy for us all to think that they were incompetent in order to maintain OpSec.

Iran's Embassy in London has formally denied any link to the five British nationals arrested near RAF Fairford, rejecting reports connecting Tehran to the suspected plot. UK authorities have made no attribution to Iran, while possible foreign involvement remains under investigation.
ITV News reports controlled explosions were carried out overnight by specialists at the Whelford scene. The 400 metre cordon remains in place around the three vehicles and is due to be reviewed as the investigation continues.
Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband called the Fairford incident a reminder of the threats facing the UK, saying Britain would defend its security against those seeking to cause harm. Defence Secretary Wes Streeting separately said military bases can be targets for state-backed actors, while stressing it remains too early to attribute motive or responsibility in this case.
Around 85 homes remain affected by the security operation, with residents still displaced as police, military and counter-terrorism personnel continue work at the scene.

Isn’t kind of a no brainer that if Iran was involved, they’d deny it? Also, how long does it take for them to ID the suspects? They already have them in custody…..

If the suspects are some of the thousands of illegals in the country, then they don’t have reliable identification and Iran is not likely to backstop them if they’re involved.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham says he will chair an emergency COBRA meeting later today in response to the RAF Fairford incident, with ministers expected to review the full security and intelligence picture before further public comment.
NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen. Alexus Grynkewich also referenced the Fairford arrests while addressing the European Parliament's security and defence committee, citing the case within the wider European security environment. He made no attribution to Iran, Russia or another state.
Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband was separately asked about President Trump's claim that the suspects had already been under investigation and declined to confirm or deny it, citing the ongoing investigation.
No new arrests, charges, suspect releases, confirmed device viability or state attribution have been announced.

The five men arrested near RAF Fairford are being released on police bail following extensive interviews and enquiries, Counter Terrorism Policing says.
Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor said the men remain under active investigation and are subject to stringent conditions restricting their movement and contact with others.
Police stressed that release on bail does not mean the investigation is over. Multiple lines of enquiry remain active.
The three vehicles linked to the arrests were searched with support from military assets and forensic specialists, while significant resources remain deployed at the scene and the cordon remains in place.
There is currently no confirmed evidence supporting claims circulating online that the men were merely stealing fuel, were completely cleared, or that separate suspects remain at large.

Things got, more interesting IMO. But I am not speculating on anything anymore, clearly something is up, one way or another, and hopefully we will find out shortly... one way or another.
