CIA Director Made Rare Unannounced Visit to Russia

Yeah I wanted to say, I don't think that Ratcliffe is going back to Moscow again tomorrow (talking about the 3 days window given).
Regarding the fact that Peskov and the Russians didn't know about a govt. flight from the US landing on a military base in Moscow...well of course that's 100% impossible.

The shortness of the visit leads me to think about a discussion to test the waters about Russian intentions in Iran, and more residually about the hybrid warfare that Russia is conducting in Europe (aka drones in Germany) and Ukraine.
I’m still of the opinion it’s most likely Iran related

This is the most realistic article and analysis I have found about the whole story.

I'm watching it. Some of this shit is eyebrow raising, but I'm still not budging and would still consider this a crisis environment. Not a actual crisis.

The rhetoric is hotter. The intel chatter is hotter. The map isn't. I'm not seeing the force moves, readiness changes, logistics, deployments, or air and naval posture I'd expect if NATO and Russia were actually sliding toward imminent hostilities. Hell, we've heard scarier shit during this five year clusterfuck between Russia & Ukraine.

Could somebody misread the other side and screw this up? Absolutely. That's still the real danger in my opinion, misread signals, errors, miscalculations leading to kenetic action between NATO & Russia. Not Putin waking up one day and choosing violence against NATO.

But until the map changes, my assessment doesn't really. Just another chapter in this never ending story.

Don't get me wrong though. Things are continually going in the wrong direction. But it has for years and until the physical map starts reacting, I'll be one of the few voice of reason I guess here as the media sure is doing a bang up job.

⬆️
But that's a real danger that exists no matter the context so long nuclear weapons exist. But as tentions go up, the risk of this does too. Sharply.

One other thing. If NATO and Russia were genuinely preparing for imminent kinetic action, I would expect the commercial satellite crowd to be screaming by now "abnormal movements at nuclear storage facilities, air bases, or other places". But, again have yet to see anything.

Normal people and private companies have access to imagery today that governments practically had to own a spy program to get decades ago. People routinely watch Russian bases, strategic weapons facilities, nuclear storage sites, airfields and everything else under the sun.

And as far as I have seen, nobody is pointing to some major abnormal physical activity at Russian, European or American strategic facilities that suddenly screams war preparation.

You cannot hide much shit anymore from anyone. You cannot easily hide an entire major war posture from everybody anymore. PERIOD.

➡️So until somebody shows me something physical that actually changed regarding anything strategic, yea. Kinda yawn guys.

I don't think it's going to be full-blown kinetic, but the media here in Blighty are starting to wake up to the idea that Russia might try some kind of provocation to test our resolve.

I do hope Ratcliffe told the Russians in no uncertain terms that Article 5 is still very much on the table.

This doesn't change my opinion whatsoever. Even if Belarus entered the war today, it still wouldn't change the point I made above. I specifically said strategic activity.

I'm talking abnormal activity at nuclear storage sites, unusual strategic movements at airbases, naval facilities, or something else physical that tells me the strategic posture itself is changing.

This isn't that.

So yea, show me the money, as they say. Until somebody puts something physical on the map that actually changes the strategic picture, I'm not moving in my stance.

And for the love of God, everyone needs to calm down with the uncited social media claims before they give me a stroke....😂

Edit: that Belarusian news is not related to this and wasn't a unannounced thing. Was already happening on August 24th. So no way in relation to CIA Director visit.
👇
Substantively true, contextually distorted by "OSINT" accounts:

The brigade activation, movement, undisclosed tasks, Ukraine/Iran lessons and firepower emphasis are all genuine.

BUT “Lukashenko suddenly orders a combat readiness check” makes it sound like an unexpected strategic reaction occurring on August 26. Belarus says this particular inspection began on August 24 under a broader readiness testing program approved earlier in 2026. Individual mobilization notifications can still be deliberately surprise/no notice events within that preplanned inspection architecture. This was not because of CIA directors visit to Russia.

Well, we didn't blow ourselves up last night. (y) I do think the chess pieces were moving though. Nuclear weapons have got to go! IMO
Russian military active on shortwave last night. A couple of long radiograms were sent on 5135 kHz USB. "Dmitry" repeated 5 times in the beginning of the letter part of the radiogram indicates a message of high priority. Received in Poland on 25.08.2026; 17:45 UTC.

"Don't be scared, be prepared." PREPAREDNESS STARTS BEFORE THE EMERGENCY.
We been saying that for years here:
It is always wise to prepare. The current conflict is just when people are starting to think about it. Much in the same way that people don't think about preparing for a hurricane until one is blowing down on them.

No, we are not hiding anything. We are constantly evaluating the DEFCON level and there is nothing to change it at this time. Iran is still seen as a localised conflict with no imminent nuclear threat.

But notice the word I used. "Imminent". Things can change. So people are always advised to be prepared.

Some people see this conflict as something that can blow up (pardon the pun), others are not so worried. So some will take more steps than others to prepare. That is their choice.

Here is the best advice ANYONE WILL EVER GIVE YOU: The best time to prepare for the worst is during peacetime or no panic. To prepare during a crisis is REALLY dumb.

If your plan is to only prepare for a crisis when a crisis is happening you might as well just dig your own grave.

That is my only point. ☝️ Now is the smart time to plan and prepare for a 'real' crisis. Not when it is happening. Again, if that's your plan, don't count on surviving any crisis in general.

NOTHING IS IMMEDIATELY A THREAT. HOWEVER YOU DO NOT WANT TO PREP FOR A CRISIS DURING A CRISIS.
&
DWS's official position on preparing is that DEFCON 5 and 4 are the times to prepare for any of the various scenarios that could play out over the next year or two. Once we get to DEFCON 3, the situation has become bad enough that some scattered panic-buying could take place, but you might still be able to get some supplies to prepare. When we hit DEFCON 2, forget it. You need to either stay home and shelter in place or make plans to bugout. Stores will be full of people clearing off the shelves and fighting over what's left. We witnessed that in 2020 during Covid, so it's not theoretical. It *will* happen.

So, yes, the time to prepare is now. NOT because WW3 is imminent, but because if you wait until WW3 is imminent, you will be unable to obtain the supplies you need.
