Russian post by the Mirror: "
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/vladimir-putin-warns-nato-everyone-25759453" warns of nuclear waste if NATO makes moves they don't like. This is the first actual nuke threat by any country that has nukes. Can DEFCON review if this is credible and shouldn't the level be adjusted accordingly?
The mirror is boulevard press - sensationalist style. In the article it says, referring to Putin:
"He said: “In the event that the clearly aggressive line of our Western colleagues continues, we will take adequate retaliatory military-technical measures, and react toughly to unfriendly steps."
and (emphasis added by me):
Vladimir Putin's media mouthpiece Dmitry Kiselyov warned US-led aggression could lead to a nuclear war and warned NATO 'everyone will be turned into radioactive ash'
So the headline is not correct: It wasn't Putin who spoke about "radioactive ash", but it was Kiselyov - who seems to be some kind of Kremlin's own "boulevard expert", as this is not the first time in this situation that he uses very drastic words.
IMO it would be a different thing if Putin said that or Lavrow, but (also IMO) this is just propaganda, reported in a sensationalist style by a boulevard paper's website.
