If this is just about Iran’s nuclear facilities, the firepower is overkill. But if it’s about preparing for a wider regional war or deterring multiple adversaries (Iran, Hezbollah, Houthis, and maybe even Russia or China trying to take advantage), then this level of force projection makes sense.
Me thinks a possibility as well.

That's catchy. 🤩 Humbled, really. But I just see myself as a janitor honestly in that aspect. Nothing special. If I do a good job no one will have known I done anything or much at all. Everything (post/thread) is in it's place and where it should be.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Not trying to clutter up this thread with a PRC/ROC discussion, but I would be open to one, if opened.

There is a bit of a weather window right now and it may be the U.S. posturing for both contingencies. Get the forward bases with strategic bombers far out there, supplied, and then work back in.

The transport movement from SK to Bahrain does indicate its for the ME though, unless that equip.ent is to be dispersed somewhere else.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Issue is, they will probably be detected before they could get in range. Those Iranian subs aren’t quiet like an Ohio-class…
I would not want to be aboard any Iranian sub if the US goes to war with Iran. They're pretty much getting one shot off, if that.

Donald Trump has signed off on the UK’s deal to hand the Chagos Islands to Mauritius.

Interesting. Only reason I can think of for this coming up now is that if something goes boom over DG, the UK doesn't want it to count as an attack on their territory.

Also explains why Trump was so nice to Starmer during their recent meeting, despite the latter being a filthy woke liberal leftist governor of England, the 57th state of the US (or somesuch 😜).

B-2 Spirits Amassed On Diego Garcia Underscore Hardened Aircraft Shelter Debate

The remoteness of key forward operating locations no longer offers the level of protection, even against Iranian capabilities, it once did.

Time to start digging!

It won't be before Friday, April 4th(if the attack takes place) if the attack takes place. Trump is focusing on his favorite phrase: "tariffs," which he plans to impose on almost every country in the world starting tomorrow, April 2nd, at 4 p.m. live from the White House.
They are to be unveiled on Wednesday, "Liberation Day," according to Donald Trump, during a ceremony at 4 p.m. local time at the White House. That is, just after the closing of the New York Stock Exchange, which has already begun to falter like other markets around the world.
So, the media is focusing on this.

Good point. I thought tomorrow about a month ago and even until yesterday. I did think we would move even more assets out. But it appears whilst pilots are sleeping on cots in hangars the US is continuing to deliver Thad patriot and ships (Aegis) to everywhere including some US locations. I’m unsure how long this is sustainable.

We have never pushed this much force outside the US since the Cold War. To be clear we have fought entire wars with less. Far less in most cases.

Yeah, the sheer scale of deployments is unprecedented in the post Cold War era. The U.S. has waged major wars with far fewer assets forward deployed both Gulf Wars, Afghanistan, and even the initial stages of Iraq 2003 didn't see this kind of pre positioning.

It only points to preparations for rapid escalation. The continued movement of THAAD, Patriot batteries, and Aegis ships signals a defensive posture, likely anticipating missile retaliation. But the sheer volume of firepower being staged makes it hard to see this as just a precaution.

The sustainability issue is real too. Operating at this intensity for long periods drains resources both logistical and human. A decision point is approaching soon.

Didn't russia and iran sign some sort of defense treaty?
Yes. Posted the information about it days ago, and Director an I had a 2 page debate about it here in this thread...👇
Iran-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, ratified in January 2025, includes significant military and defense cooperation elements, which went under the radar for many at the time.

Quick brush up;
Key Military Aspects of the Treaty:

1. Mutual Defense Clause (Unofficial but Implied):
While not explicitly called a mutual defense pact, the agreement outlines "enhanced military coordination and joint security initiatives" aimed at addressing external threats. Given the geopolitical context and both nations' adversarial stance toward Western powers, this is widely interpreted as a quasi-mutual defense understanding.

2. Joint Military Exercises & Training:
The treaty formalizes joint military drills, maritime operations, and war games between Russian and Iranian forces. This extends beyond previous naval cooperation in the Caspian Sea to include "joint strategic defense exercises" near the Persian Gulf and other sensitive regions.

3. Technology Transfer & Arms Sales:
Russia has agreed to supply Iran with advanced missile defense systems, fighter jets, and cyber warfare capabilities. This includes:

S-400 air defense systems (beyond the S-300s already delivered).

Su-35 fighter jets, with deliveries expected to begin in mid-2025.

Upgrades to Iran’s drone and missile programs, particularly concerning ballistic missile technology.

4. Intelligence Sharing & Cybersecurity Cooperation:
The agreement mandates closer cooperation between Iranian and Russian intelligence agencies, particularly for "countering Western cyber threats and electronic warfare." Russia is reportedly providing advanced cyber capabilities to Iran, enhancing its offensive and defensive cyber operations.

5. Logistical Support & Military Presence:
Russia is now permitted "limited military basing rights" in Iran, particularly for maritime operations and air support in the region. This includes docking rights in Iranian ports for Russian warships and limited airfield access.

6. Drone Production & Supply Chain Collaboration:
Russia and Iran have agreed to establish joint drone manufacturing facilities in Iran, ensuring a consistent supply of attack drones like the Shahed series, which Russia has used extensively in Ukraine.

👉 This treaty essentially ties Iran and Russia into a formal military partnership one that now complicates any U.S. or Israeli action against Iranian nuclear sites.

THIS IS SOMTHING a lot of people have over looked. Russian military 'entanglement' with Iran now formaly ratified between the two nations.
However there is no mechanism like NATO Article 5 for Russia to defend Iran. Though regardless their militaries are growing ever more interconnected. Raising some concerns for sure.

WH Press Secretary: “These Houthi strikes have been incredibly successful. Last time I was at this podium, there were more than 100 successful strikes. There have now been over 200 successful strikes -- Iran is incredibly weakened as a result of these attacks."
No it's not, and the kindergarten-level rhetoric gives you insight into the quality of the WH thought process (or rather, lack thereof).

That’s a big statement, especially coming from France, which usually leans toward diplomacy. If their foreign minister is openly saying this, it suggests that even the most negotiation focused Western governments see military action as an inevitability.

A rare defense cabinet meeting in Paris also signals they’re taking this seriously likely discussing contingencies for escalation, potential European involvement, or at least how they’ll respond diplomatically when the U.S. strikes. This could be France preparing for what they now view as inevitable.

It reinforces what I've been saying: all the off ramps seem to have disappeared. Just waiting for the countdown to hit zero hour.

Given the broader military buildup, this aligns with preparations for a large scale, precise strike, targeting Iran's nuclear infrastructure. If diplomacy was still on the table, moves like this would be counterproductive, so it strongly suggests the U.S. military is getting ready for action, not just deterrence.

With France openly acknowledging that military confrontation seems inevitable, it looks like the final phase before a decision is made.

I've been saying they are going to try and invade Iran...

He said he wasn't going to start a new war.

I concur with this assessment. Do not forget that Iran publicly put a price on Trump's head during his first term. I doubt he has forgotten about that. Two CSGs and at least seven B2s in theater means something is coming. Since Diego Garcia only has facilities for four B2s, that means at least three are out in the open, not inside hangars. To me, this indicates that whatever is coming will be sooner than later.

Also don't forget that DWS's official position on Iran is that they are a de facto nuclear-armed nation, meaning our intel will be analyzed as if they already have at least one nuclear weapon at their disposal, not how quickly they can build one.

If anyone has a countering opinion, I'm open to discussing it.
1 every week? maybe?
