Discussions --Lead Up to Talks & US Military Intervention Against Iran Nuclear Facilities Threatened When Talks Fail

Yeah, you're probably right. Those bombers are probably on a very short alert status which is another indication of something immanent happening.
I still think the initial heavy bomber strikes should be from the States though. Maybe they will be. We'll see.
When the Vinson reaches the area my projection. Electronic jamming planes as well as SAM site exploitation before the bombers enter.

Yep and there are what appears to be 6 there (I guess they could leave two sitting out and pretend the other hangers are full but it seems like an awfully expensive counter Intel op.

Air Force has to shuffle that base the way the Navy does on a carrier deck.

It has a squadron of F-35 two F-18 and a squadron of F-18 growlers.

A B-21 would deploy from the states… fatigue isn’t an issue there. It can be remote or manned. We should probably assume one or two are mission capable by now.

Dispersed to where? Like the US has a choice of airbases capable of hosting strategic bombers and located conveniently close to Iran, but outside of Iranian IRBM range, on the territory of a country that can be talked into going along with this war plan...

See, this is where this whole thing called "having allies" comes in handy. Someone tell Trump.
Guam, Indian Ocean, Great Britain, Conus, Hawaii, Okinawa, and maybe the Canal Zone (?) again.?

You just provided a simple list of US airbases around the world without addressing any of the other points I made. That's not a sound argument.

In reality, the places you mentioned are not convenient as a launching platform for airstrikes against Iran - for the following reasons:
  1. Guam, Hawaii, Okinawa: requires a long and circuitous route - unless you believe Russia and/or China will grant the US overflight rights for bombing runs against Iran (which is a ludicrous assertion to make),
  2. Great Britain: that's even worse (see above)
  3. Canal Zone: you mean Panama Canal? The US doesn't even have any airbases there, and also, see item #4. If you meant Suez Canal (i.e. US airbases in places like Qatar, Bahrain and KSA) - those governments will not allow strikes to be launched from their territory; they have publicly declared so.
  4. CONUS: that's very far away, and also see item #1.
Thus, Diego Garcia (which you seem to refer to as "Indian Ocean") remains the only viable option, QED.

Plenty of strategic airbases in Europe that are close enough and outside Irans ballistic missile range. I guess they could also come from places closer, like Israel that has plenty of missile protection. Those bombers have a range of 11000km ( 6000 nautical miles ) So they could launch anywhere and get refueled mid air. ( thats the purpose of those airplanes anyways )

That's why they are placed where they are. Iran doesn't have the capability to hit targets over 2,000 miles away, let alone with accuracy. The B2s are just fine where they are in Diego Garcia.

Iran would need to launch around 5,000 missiles at the base and pray that even one hits without even considering how many would be shot down. They couldn't even lock onto a target in Israel, which is much closer than where the B-2s are now, so they are just fine.

I'm not sure why some suddenly think Iran can strike precisely from thousands of miles away when they have yet to prove it especially after their recent exchange with Israel just a couple of months ago.

Besides by the time any actions does occur they will be long gone flying in the air out of danger pummeling Iran. So really zero worries guys.

We have P-8’s up there too. Iranian subs *could* be worth a measure of concern. Depends on the range of an Iranian SLBM though.

Everyone needs to consider that the groundwork has been laid for some time now. Israel destroyed a lot of SAM sites within Iran during their tit-for-tat not too long ago.

Since the fall of Assad in Syria, Israel has done good work of mopping up all air defenses within that country as well.

Over the past many months, Israel has destroyed or degraded Iranian air defenses both within Iran and outside of it. In my opinion, not much air resistance will be met due to the groundwork Israel has done in degrading air defenses in the region and within Iran itself. Not to mention Iran's proxies, which are either totally incapacitated (Hamas) or knee-capped (Hezbollah).

It really is now or never. We won't ever get another opportunity like this before Iran develops a deliverable working atomic bomb.

Those loud clunkers?

I'm sure we know where they all are, and those subs won't survive long in any war. We've been tracking extremely quiet nuclear submarines of real nuclear superpower adversaries for decades with great effectiveness. Iran is no match to hide itself with its third-rate hardware.

I'm not underestimating Iran. I'm basing this off of their real world performance and the actual use of their weapons/capabilities demonstrated over the past year or so. Not even subpar. No pun intended.

Unfortunately diesel-electric subs have surprised the US navy and aircraft carrier groups several times in the past during friendly exercises. Anything is possible.

Unfortunately as I understand it IUSS works together with SOSUS integrated. Of which I believe don't exist in a couple of waterways in said area for Iranians sub detection. Shallow waters and topography affects these abilities aswell. Hence Iran having mostly shallow water subs beside the 3 kilo class.

Two thoughts
One of the issues of virtually anywhere but Diego Garcia, aircraft watchers. The chances of an errant or placed asset to monitor a base for a launch of two or more B-2’ is virtually nowhere but Diego Garcia.
Stealth and surprise being a preeminent advantage for the B-2 this seems like an unspoken advantage.

Second maybe a question, is it far fetched or beyond capability for the corp of engineers not to erect some form of temporary shelters from sun and environment for them?
I’ve seen what farmers can throw up in a weekend surely some large clear spans and impermeable siding and portable environmental units could be erected pretty quickly if needed
“Bomber-ports”
Rotate them to existing permanent hangers for maintenance.

These are not insurmountable issues.
The cost of this is insignificant compared to price of even one B-2.

Crap fly 200 Amish and Mennonite farmers down there give them what they need and get out of their way. Temporary shelter doesn’t seem like an insurmountable issue

My thoughts about it: Diego Garcia seems to be a pure military base, so not sure "bird watchers" would get close enough. I am also asking myself, if this isnt a deception ( to indicate the attack would come from the south ) or propaganda move to put more pressure on Iran.

If these birds are still there, Diego Garcia has plenty of room, I wonder what else they have on that island, and if there is such thing as "stealth tankers"
