Norway's Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik says Norway has the capacity to shoot down drones, but emphasizes that the drone observations in Norway are about surveillance drones, not Shahed drones.
  • We must remember, we are not at war. The drone observations we are now investigating in Norway, there is no confirmation, there is no conclusion. But there are observations, which are serious. It disturbs our air traffic and of course it is serious, he says.,
It has not yet been confirmed by the police, the Armed Forces or Avinor whether there are actually drones that have been observed in Norway, or what type of drones it might have been.
  • We have capabilities to shoot down drones. But we are not under attack, and these are surveillance drones, not Shahed drones. Not what we have seen on other parts of the NATO alliance's borders, the defense minister said.,
The Minister of Defense also talked about the air space violations from Russia in the northern areas.
  • We have a long tradition of being calm, but with great determination. To say clearly that this is reckless behavior. It can be bad navigation, and we can see it more often now, Sandvik said.,
Sandvik asked the Russians to operate with larger security margins in the north, near Norway's borders."We have sent clear messages and we are aware of, and prepared 24/7 in the north, where we have a border on Russia," he said.

“We have heard these statements," Peskov said at a press briefing on Monday, September 29, originally in Russian, in response to a question about Trump considering Tomahawks for Ukraine. "We are carefully analyzing them. Our military specialists are closely monitoring this," Peskov said, according to state news agency TASS.

“The question, as before, is the following: Who can launch these missiles, even if they end up on the territory of the Kyiv regime? Can they be launched only by Ukrainians, or must it still be done by American military personnel? Who provides the targeting for these missiles? A very deep analysis is needed here.”

He added: "Even if this is the case, there is no panacea that can now change the situation on the fronts for the Kyiv regime. There are no magic weapons, whether it is Tomahawk or other missiles, they will not be able to change the dynamics."

I’m surprised at the lack of volatility coming out of the Kremlin today given the tensions at hand. Usually, an idea to give Ukraine weapons like Tomahawks would be met by multiple fire and brimstone threats, not a relative shoulder shrug. Maybe I’m just being optimistic?

A huge air NATO air operation continues over Europe. Huge amounts of Early Warning aircraft, fighter jets and tankers are airborne patrolling the skies of Europe. A particular focus is noted near Kaliningrad, The Baltic Sea and the eastern border with Russia.
May be related to this exercise:

VOLFA 2025
September 29 – October (just launched)
France (various air bases)
NATO air combat drill emphasizing tactical fighter operations, close air support, and interoperability in contested airspace.
France (lead), multiple NATO allies including U.S. and European air forces.

🆕 During a recent interview by the BBC with the First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Lt. Gen. Ivan Havryliuk, he states that Ukraine will be receiving additional F-16s and Mirage 2000s soon from allies in Europe, while announcing for the first time that Ukraine is “expecting” to receive Saab JAS-39 Gripens from Sweden, with him adding, “When you see them in the sky over Ukraine, then you’ll know [they have arrived].”

Germany passes draft law to strengthen military security, granting soldiers more powers outside of barracks. Reasons are an increased number of drone flights over Bundeswehr & allied bases, as well as suspected spying attempts. Outside of places like barracks, soldiers hardly have any right over civilians.

New Regulations:
  • Soldiers will in future be permitted to check people within sight of a military security area if they are handling drones, surveillance devices, burglary tools, or dangerous objects, or are observing the area.,
  • Military police officers will also be permitted to check people observing military activities – regardless of location, i.e., throughout the country. This includes ammunition transports, exercises, or public oaths of allegiance.,
  • Soldiers with security duties will be permitted to use Tasers.
Pretty big thing in Germany since the separation of domestic policing and armed forces is strict.

Regardless of the scale, emergency calls like this are very unusual.

This is according to Jacob Kaarsbo, who is a security policy advisor and has a past as a chief analyst in the Danish Armed Forces Intelligence Service.

This shows that we are in a completely extraordinary situation. That is why we are also seeing these extraordinary measures. I don't remember hearing about it before, says Jacob Kaarsbo.

Pro Russia was 43%
Mind boggling.
Why do you see it as mind boggling.
I’m glad it was clear win considering what was feared.

I was concerned there would be pushbacks. Lots of social media activity last night from Pro Russian posters. They seemed to have definitely positioned themselves to launch protest.

There will be approximately 5,000 soldiers and 800-900 mechanized means that will come to Romania. The movement from NATO allies to Romania practically began and, on October 20, this exercise will begin, until November 13, it will be in several polygons and units in Romania. They will be allies from several countries. Of course, the main ones are the French allies, who are permanently stationed in Cincu, in the Cincu Battle Group, just yesterday I was there. France will make a considerable effort in this exercise”, declared Ionuț Moșteanu.

He specified that the exercise will be carried out „throughout the country”. „There are several polygons. The biggest ones are Cincu and Smârdan, but they will also be at Capu Midia, Babadag and other polygons”, added the Minister of Defense.

The Sleipner gas field is located in Block 15/9 of the North Sea, approximately 250 kilometres (155 miles) west of Stavanger, Norway. It is inside Norwegian territorial waters. The area consists of several fields, including the Sleipner Vest and Sleipner Øst fields, and is a significant site for gas production and carbon capture and storage (CCS). In 2022, police deployed drone sensors to monitor and detect potential drone activity around oil and gas installations on the Norwegian continental shelf.
