India’s MOD said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will perform the Bhoomi Pujan for a 10,000 ton aluminium extrusion press at Yantra India Limited’s Ordnance Factory Ambajhari in Nagpur on June 19th.

The press is framed as a defense and aerospace manufacturing asset for large, high strength aluminium alloy extrusions, reducing import dependence.

India’s MOD signed a roughly Rs 425 crore contract with Bharat Forge Limited for 12 sets of 1.25 MW Marine Gas Turbine Generators for the Indian Navy. MOD said the generators will power critical combat systems, advanced weapons, and sensors on modern naval combatants.

Separately, the Navy will commission three indigenously built platforms the Dunagiri, Sanshodhak, and Agray in Kolkata on June 21st.

India’s Defence Information Technology Consultative Committee cleared projects intended to support the armed forces and national technology development.

The committee reviewed indigenous advanced chip manufacturing, a sovereign operating system and database, strategic siting of defence data centres, and disruptive technologies across the services.

India’s DRDO handed the Final Operational Clearance certificate for the indigenous Netra Airborne Early Warning and Control system to the Indian Air Force.

Netra provides airborne surveillance, situational awareness, battle management, and command and control capabilities. Indian officials also cited its operational use during the Balakot strikes and Operation Sindoor.

India’s Defence Acquisition Council approved capital acquisition proposals to enhance combat readiness.

The package includes anti UAV electronic warfare systems, MPATGM, MRSAM, V-SHORADS, active protection systems for tanks, jet based kamikaze drones, shipborne UAS, multi influence ground mines and fixed-wing high altitude pseudo satellites.

India’s Ministry of Defence says the Indian Navy will commission Mahendragiri, its sixth Project 17A indigenous stealth frigate, at Visakhapatnam on July 11th.

The ship includes reduced radar signature, CODOG propulsion, surface to surface and surface to air missile systems, electronic warfare, anti submarine warfare systems and an integrated Combat Management System.
