Yeah I thought so too. Maybe it's because Biden views himself as Irish, so didn't want to attend.
I'm still upset that he spent virtually no time in Northern Ireland but tons of time in the Republic of Ireland, I think that was a snub to the UK.

My understanding is that no US president has attended a coronation. So Biden wasn't doing anything others have not done.
IMO, though, he should have went.
