I get it. I do think the Indian military leadership is going to carefully calibrate their land grab (if it happens) so Pakistan isn’t pushed past the threshold. It is still highly irresponsible of an idea.
They should limit land warfare to already disputed (by both sides, the UN and I guess the world) such as JK (esp Jammu) to avoid a nuclear war with each other. Actually seizing other parcels and states from within the UN recognized borders of a Nuclear armed rival is…unwise.
It seem ridiculous that the thought even needs to be expressed.
India’s Army Southern Command reports a successful combat launch of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile over the Bay of Bengal on 1 December.
According to the Army statement, the missile hit its designated target with pinpoint accuracy, “reaffirming India’s ability to deliver decisive long-range precision strikes.”
The launch is described as a validation of operational, long-range conventional strike readiness under simulated battle conditions, not a developmental hardware test.
BSF Western Command ADG Satish S. Khandare says the force has identified key “hot spots” along the Pakistan border in Punjab where rogue drones are frequently used to smuggle weapons and narcotics into India.
He adds that a “massive upgradation” of anti-drone systems is underway, with a multilayer grid of sensors and a dedicated drone forensic lab in Amritsar analysing each recovered UAV’s flight path and drop points.
According to his 2025 figures, Western Command has recovered around 278 rogue drones, seized more than 380 kg of heroin and over 200 weapons, and apprehended 53 Pakistani intruders and smugglers.
New satellite imagery reviewed by NDTV indicates that Pakistan has cleared the remains of a hangar at Sukkur airbase that was struck by the Indian Air Force during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, levelling the damaged structure.
At Nur Khan Airbase near Rawalpindi, where earlier imagery showed strike damage to command and support facilities, the latest images show two new buildings constructed on the footprint of the destroyed site.
The report notes that these bases were among several targeted when India hit Pakistani airfields during the May 8-10 conflict, which Pakistan has since been working to repair and rebuild.
Pakistan and China have begun their annual Warrior IX joint counterterrorism exercise at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Pabbi, Nowshera district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to ISPR, specialized troops from both armies will spend the coming weeks conducting simulated counterterrorism operations designed to improve joint planning, tactical coordination and interoperability.

Pakistan has created a new post of Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and confirmed Field Marshal Asim Munir, already serving as Chief of Army Staff, as its first occupant for a five-year term.
According to officials, the role sits above the army, navy, and air force and is intended to centralize operational coordination across all three services. Munir will hold the CDF and COAS posts concurrently.
The appointment follows his promotion to field marshal earlier this year for his role in the May 2025 conflict with India, further consolidating his position as Pakistan’s most powerful serving military officer.
India’s Department of Atomic Energy has confirmed a new push to deepen civil nuclear cooperation with Russia’s Rosatom, including joint work on large and small nuclear power projects, the nuclear fuel cycle, and localisation of equipment production in India.
A cabinet cleared memorandum of understanding will allow Rosatom to table proposals in New Delhi for Russian-designed small modular reactors, alongside broader civil nuclear cooperation, during President Putin’s 4th to 5th of December summit with Prime Minister Modi.
In parallel, Rosatom has delivered the first consignment of nuclear fuel for initial loading of Unit 3 at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu. The shipment, timed with Putin’s visit, is part of a long-term contract to supply fuel for Units 3 and 4, as Kudankulam expands toward six VVER-1000 units with 6,000 MW of capacity for India’s southern grid.
Together, these steps strengthen Russia’s position as India’s primary foreign civil nuclear partner while supporting New Delhi’s plan to scale up both large reactors and future SMR deployment.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has highlighted a new trilateral initiative with Bangladesh and China, saying it could be “expanded” and “duplicated” into a wider regional framework.
The remarks, delivered at the Islamabad Conclave 2025, signal Pakistan’s interest in reimagining South Asian regional architecture at a time when SAARC remains stalled and India is effectively outside the emerging format. The reply specifies that Pakistan’s DGMO initiated the request for cessation of firing, and that “the US President had no involvement whatsoever” in either the ceasefire discussions or the agreement between the two sides, reiterating India’s position that de escalation was managed bilaterally.

India and the United States held the 21st Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism and the 7th Designations Dialogue in New Delhi on 3 December 2025. The joint statement condemns terrorism in all forms, explicitly including cross border terrorism, and highlights growing concern over terrorist use of UAVs, drones, and AI.
Both sides strongly condemn the 22 April 2025 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir and the 10 November 2025 terror incident near the Red Fort in New Delhi, stressing that those responsible must be held accountable.
The statement calls for additional UN 1267 designations targeting ISIS and al Qaida affiliates, as well as Lashkar e Tayyiba, Jaish e Mohammad, and their proxy networks, with global asset freezes, travel bans, and arms embargoes. India formally thanks the United States for designating The Resistance Front, a LeT proxy linked to the Pahalgam attack, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and Specially Designated Global Terrorist.
India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh says the armed forces “could have done much more” during Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam terror attack, but instead applied a “restrained” and “calibrated” response.
Speaking in Ladakh while inaugurating 125 BRO border projects, he framed Sindoor as proof that India will respond to major attacks, while keeping further escalation options available if required. The remarks underline that New Delhi views the May operation as limited by choice, not by capability.
India is alone on this assertion. Publicly Pakistan, China, Russia and the United States assert the direct intervention of Trump ended hostilities.

Because the ceasefire is seen as a loss in India, benefitting only Pakistan. If the government admits American intervention took place that will be seen as capitulation. Remember, America was historically a Pakistani ally. The generation currently in power still views things through that lens, though to a lesser degree.

Russia has reportedly offered India the 3M-14E Kalibr-PL submarine-launched land attack cruise missile, a roughly 1,500 km range system that can be fired from standard 533 mm torpedo tubes on existing submarines, including the Kilo/Sindhughosh class.
If New Delhi proceeds, Kalibr PL would give the Indian Navy long range conventional strike options from current boats without major structural changes, complementing BrahMos armed surface ships and bridging the gap until an indigenous submarine launched cruise missile is ready.
Pakistan’s new Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, used his guard of honour speech at GHQ to issue an explicit deterrent warning to India.
Quoting ISPR reported remarks, Munir said India “should not be in any delusion” and that Pakistan’s response to any future Indian “aggression” would be “even more swift and intense” than during the May war. The statement comes as he formally takes over a new tri-service command structure, designed to integrate land, air, sea, cyber, and information operations.
