Anyone who wants to go back in chronological order to see how we got here I have now added this current crisis into the logbook. Granted the log book is far from finished as I have to go back many more years and finish compiling the reports from the original Hamas Lebanon and yemen wars....

This is what I have been worried about. As good as Israel's air defense systems are, if Iran coordinates a massive strike with other actors it could overwhelm and/or deplete the system, allowing for the bigger payloads to hit their targets.

Go back to last yea(rs) coverages,
Note our teams responses to situational change.
Note the changes over time. News bias
There is much to be learned from patterns we are seeing and the worlds response to news noise?
Very much the same way the COVID social response occured,
Anyone else see this?

Alert fatigue is real. And it's also the fact that some situations that were viewed as very escalatory didn't really lead anywhere. Like the defcon 3 after the first use of the Oreshnik.

Reminder that it's what Trump posts on truth social. It's not just empty bluster, but it's deliberately written like that to put pressure on Iranian negotiators. I don't think one should be too alarmost about it.
 
I'm no military expert, but I guess a potential response could be akin to shock and awe, perhaps even bigger in order to paralyze the country as much as possible, and then try to enact some kind of uprising. Not doing anything more after a quick bombing campaign will result in an emboldened government, or a government that has a hard time negotiating afterward since it is too weakened. If it's mostly civilian infrastructure it's an even bigger gamble, it could lead to further estrangement among NATO allies and provide a great case of whataboutism for Russia to use when they attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

The way I'm reading it is that he is threatening to use thermonuclear weapons. God help us all.
 
I don’t often get worried about this sort of stuff anymore given how often he changes his mind on a whim but this is pretty scary to me

There’s no need to escalate this to such a ridiculous level

He might be incompetent, but not to that point. He's said before that it's bridges and power plants. Not even sure if the chain of command would work properly for an ordered first strike on Iran considering the circumstances. Remember the "fire and fury" thing with North Korea.
 
It seems as if the last 5 days of the news almost being non-existent is over. Was fun while it lasted.

We have now resumed normal programming.

If things escalate REPORT thread and DISCUSSION threads will be refreshed accordingly.

However, many accuse Trump of manipulating the markets; at this time, the markets are down. Perhaps a statement from Trump around 3pm will try to boost the markets; this would be further proof that it's all a show. We'll see.
