Avihu Hahn, chairman of the Haifa Bay Area Cities Association, responded to the damage to the BAZN: "As long as the BAZN continues to operate, it is a game of Russian roulette with the lives of a million residents of the Haifa metropolitan area. Disaster will surely come. The plant constitutes an energy and security failure of the first order, and it is appropriate that this understanding also permeates the policy makers in the government. There are interim solutions that will allow the closure of the BAZN within a few months, and we must act to implement them immediately."
