We, at least for now, still live in an open enough society that if a capital ship had been attacked, and another substantial naval asset critically damaged by enemy action, it would be very difficult to keep those stories quiet for very long. Not impossible, but difficult enough that these claims are extraordinary. And extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

Theoretically, without just saying “it would be classified” walk me through how we could actually conceal losing a carrier? Not being snarky, I honestly want to hear your take and others, because I would imagine it being the biggest news story on the planet.
 
If a US service member gets a splinter the legacy media screams THE US IS LOSING THE WAR, just like Vietnam. Disgusting. IMO

Pictures show the total loss of 81-0005, an E-3G “Sentry” Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Aircraft with the U.S. Air Force’s 552nd Air Control Wing based out of Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, following yesterday’s Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. The strike appears to have purposefully targeted the most important part of the E-3, that being rear of the aircraft which holds its rotating radar dome, containing several sensitive instruments including antennas for the E-3’s AN/APY-2 Surveillance Radar System.
 
It was a good hit.

You can thank the Russians. On the other hand, we are doing the same to them in the Ukraine.

We are each very deep into this becoming a means test between an former superpower and an aging one.

NBC states casualty statistics in the last paragraph of this article, almost as an afterthought: Iran says it is 'waiting' for a possible U.S. ground assault as 3,500 troops arrive in Middle East

The most biased reporting regarding casualties (in my opinion) I found was New York Times, but it doesn't claim the US is "losing the war," mostly just that Iran still has the ability to retaliate: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/29/world/middleeast/iran-missiles-war.html

In short, when you make statements like that that are at best, hyperbolic, and at worst, completely without merit, it makes it difficult to take any other analyses you make seriously. Your post is not analysis; it is a veiled snipe at political opposition. Technically, I should move it out of the "Analysis" thread to "General Discussions" or at least to its own thread in this forum. But I'm going to leave it here, along with my response, as an example of what constitutes analysis of reports and what does not.

I will acknowledge that American news media deliberately misrepresents the Middle East War in general, or at the very least doesn't tell us everything we should know, and that is certainly a topic worth discussion. It's also why I very rarely rely on US media for information. However, if you wish to engage in dialogue on media misrepresentation of the war, please start a new thread with that title, and it would help if you could post actual examples of your claims. Thank you.
