It is a pity i agree, I would love to have someone with a reputation such as Lincoln or Washington. But the reality is the personal cost to run and be president is immense. A minuscule fraction of good people are willing to sacrifice to the cost. Even if they are of high moral repute they will be attacked and ridiculed or even their family.
So we make value judgements for the man who can best achieve our political results.

That is the beauty of the relationship between believers and their God.
Life is process and none of us are ever beyond that opportunity to change and have a functional relationship with the creator.
So I will look past political attacks and be concerned only with results.
