Southern Japan. Most of coastal China and northern Australia. Get away from the coast lines. Now. Something this big, you may not feel the earthquake and still get a tsunami 1000 miles away from epicenter. Don't take chances.

JUST IN: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday (June 8, 2026) orders the immediate mobilization of government agencies after a strong earthquake struck off the coast of Sarangani and triggered tsunami warnings in several parts of Mindanao.

The Office of Civil Defense, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Public Works and Highways have been directed to coordinate response, relief and damage assessment efforts.

Classes at all levels in affected areas of Mindanao have also been suspended until further notice.

Marcos urged residents in coastal communities to heed tsunami warnings and move to higher ground immediately.
