However if you have investments in Asia I would be a little worried... 3 days now their markets have been plunging and a war between Taiwan and China would have major ripple effects economically globally.
 
I believe that they are going to be at war immediately. The second they turn back a ship or a plane it becomes a blockade which is an act of war. Taiwan may not fight but it’s still an act of war.

IMHO Taiwan will fight If this lasts long. A subjective period to be determined soley by the Republic of China.

The president of China is up for reelection in the CCP. This made him look extremely weak and probably ruined his chances of re-election from the party.

Xi may think the only way for re-election is to somehow take back Taiwan. Maybe through blockade and starving them out seems like most likely scenario. Minimizes Chinese losses which would also look bad for upcoming Xi party elections and at the same time make him look strong to the party.

I wonder if a big target like an invasion fleet ( that china needs to commit ) could keep nuclear missiles away. ?

MY OPINION
CHINA TO ANNOUNCE THAT THEY ARE STARTING THE PEACEFUL REUNIFICATION OF TAIWAN

The plan:
1. Encircle the island and impose an embargo on all foreign trade and air and sea traffic.
2.Offer humanitarian aid to the people and explain that this is not directed against the people but their rebel government make all trade go through mainland China.
3. If Taiwan military resists they will take out military targets and ask citizens to avoid military and government facilities of the rebel government.
This puts the US in awkward position of trying to break the blockade and being seen as the aggressor and maybe possibly split the unity of the EU.

Also there are the negative long term economic effects this can have on China. We already saw some manufacturing shift to other Asian nations during covid.

There also is the negative foreign relations impact this is could have for China. Asian nations are watching this and already making adjustments to the policies and alliances.
Japan Indonesia Vietnam India ROK Australia the Philippines.
They are all watching and making value judgments for their future best interest.

But it all it all comes down to political will.

It is a difficult thing to consider facing down.
I don’t see it though as a matter of being seen as the aggressor.
I say this because there is nothing in the public mind that projects Taiwan as anything but an independent nation minding their own business. No massive criminal activity, no terrorist threat emanating from them, no reports of human rights abuses, no history of developing any WMD’s

Any nation throwing a blockaid on a nation like Taiwan has little to stand on in international opinion or agencies.

This won’t bother them too much. They have ignored it before.

It won’t be a total blockaid, they will harass individual freighters and shadow flights. Just generally being a ass and trying to scare some nations and carriers from doing business with Taiwan. They will use the excuse of searching for something dangerous or searching for a terrorist.
Then it will fade back down to a low simmer for now.

This is the second part of the ROK Defense law:
“the United States”……."SHALL maintain the capacity of the United States to resist any resort to force or other forms of coercion that would jeopardize the security, or social or economic system, of the people of Taiwan".

Seems to me, we (USA) would be required to break the blockade.

A properly thought-out US response to this would be to send an unarmed ship or plane through the blockade, forcing China to either admit they cannot reunify Taiwan "peacefully" or open fire on unarmed Americans. That is NOT the position they want to be in.

First they steal the hummve design and now they steal public relations images from the Soviets.
They have zero originality or creative impulse. They simply steal plans and ideas and reproduce them like thr manufactures of cheap knock off merchandise their known for throughout the world.

The US would challenge any blockade with its Navy! If they don’t move or fire on one of our ships they will be sunk! They have a very strong relationship with Taiwan. Taiwan has already given us everything we need to rebuild their superconducting facilities here should war break out.

Taiwan is a giant fortress. They have bunkers we can only dream about. Ones their entire Airforce sits inside to ride out any attack by China. Short of major nuclear hits but that’s not going to happen.

Any war with China versus the U.S. will quickly spin out of control with the US turning China into a flaming nuclear fire storm! They know they can’t stand toe to toe with us in a war because we can wipe out everything they have in less than one hour!

With or without the United States pressure China still going to "clean up". China still fully intends on being the world's number one producer of solar and wind energy.

Reason be is their land is so toxic, polluted, and destroyed their environment leading to mass illness, death, and extreme poor quality of life due to these reasons. Not sure if you noticed but China is now starting to have a population issue, shrinking very fast as well. Cleaning up their atrocious pollution will help this issue.
