Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service Claims the UK and France Are Preparing to Help Ukraine Acquire a Nuclear Weapon

Ukraine would appreciate nukes, but I don't see the UK and France as willing to provide them with one under the present circumstances. Now, there might be plans in place to clandestinely support a nuclear weapons program in UA in the event of a peace treaty being concluded with Russia (possibly framed as a different type of deterrent than NATO boots on the ground) - but OTOH Russia has been making these sorts of allegations with some regularity since the start of the war, and by now we're firmly in "boy who cried wolf" territory.

I'm unsure why Russia saw fit to bring this up again right now; there are many possible explanations - some more ominous than others.

i find now every time Pootans team plays the Flash-Ash card, is more like background noise.

The media luvs it though!!!

Typical school yard ways!
What i could say is in the brackets(,,,,)

Bottom line, a bully with a big stick is only a bully until someone put him in his/her place. At that point they usually run home to mommy.(as politically correct as I can be)

Russia hasn't really made such accusations since early to mid 2023, from what I could find. It's entirely possible I might have missed something - in this case I'd love to be corrected!

This is slightly different; they're not stating they will nuke Ukraine if they acquire nuclear weapons, but stating it as fact that they are indeed being provided with nuclear weapons. It's obviously not grounded in reality and disinformation; but I don't see a reason for Russian desperation at this stage of the conflict. I'm also unsure why they're starting this rhetoric up again.

The only thing I’ve come up with is either a distraction from the anniversary of the war, trying to show the west are in fact the losers and look desperate, or going after France and Britain since they’re the leaders of the coalition of the willing so they’re trying to sow division amongst their population.

It’s more odd to me that they threw France and Britain into this than anything else. I feel like they’ve accused Ukraine of planning to obtain a dirty bomb on numerous occasions, but the being provided a nuclear bomb is weird. That’s why I feel this is some weird targeted division campaign towards those two specifically.

Just quick drill , fast the rhetoric pile builds up!
You will want a coffee, and yes , to fast drill I used AI,

My goal was to see how many times.
The Ai report included supporting documents, If wanted I can create a PDF file, i havent tried posting that way… yet

Here is a structured OSINT-style summary of *public media, official statements, and social/media narratives in Europe, Russia, and North America regarding (1) Russian nuclear threats linked to Western support for Ukraine since 2022 and (2) claims that the West has or plans to supply Ukraine with nuclear weaponry. Where possible, I have given dates paired with credible sources.

1) Russian Nuclear Threats in Response to Western Support for Ukraine (2022–2026)

Formal Presidential / Government Statements

• 24 Feb 2026 — Russia claims West will supply nuclear weaponry to Ukraine and warns of severe consequences.

Maria Zakharova of the Russian Foreign Ministry said any steps to help Ukraine acquire military nuclear capability will get a “harsh response” from Russia, framing Western support as direct threat to Russian security.

*• Feb 24 2026 — Dmitry Medvedev (Deputy Security Council Chair) warns Russia “will be forced” to use tactical nukes if Britain/France supply nuclear tech to Ukraine, framing such transfer as justification for nuclear use against Ukraine or supplier states.

• Nov 2024 – Russia updates nuclear doctrine, lowering threshold for use following Western military support.

An official decree expanded conditions under which Russia could use nuclear weapons in response to conventional attack by forces backed by nuclear powers.

• April 24 2025 — Sergei Shoigu (Security Council Leader) says Russia has the right to use nuclear weapons if attacked by Western states.

This was reported as tied to amendments to Russia’s nuclear doctrine, making nuclear responses to Western engagement more plausible.

Historical Russian Nuclear Threat Rhetoric

• Feb 24 2022 — Putin’s invasion speech includes nuclear warning

Putin threatened measures with consequences “the likes of which you have never seen in history” if foreign countries interfered. He also placed nuclear forces on heightened alert.

• Apr 2022 onward — repeated rhetoric linking Western support (especially long-range weapons) to nuclear risks.

Putin and officials have at times framed Western decisions on weapon transfers as increasing the likelihood of nuclear escalation.

• Multiple occasions in 2023–2024 — references to nuclear danger connected to NATO and Western assistance.

Officials, including Lavrov and Medvedev, publicly framed Western steps as a nuclear threat and used nuclear rhetoric as political leverage.

Informal / Media-Amplified Russian Right-Wing and Blogger Content

OSINT from social platforms and Russian domestic commentary show non-official but widely circulated narratives:

• Jun 2 2025 — Sergey Markov, Kremlin-linked political commentator on Telegram, suggests Ukraine’s strike could justify Russia’s use of nuclear weapons.

This reflects how pro-government commentators amplify nuclear retaliation imagery online.

• Multiple months (2023–2025) — domestic audiences show social media posts claiming Russia may use nuclear weapons if Western states escalate support.

These include lists of countries threatened and simplified warnings targeting generic “Europe” or the “West,” often lacking official context.

• A 2025 Russian expert commentary states nuclear escalation rhetoric is primarily informational influence, not actual preparatory measures.

These narratives often circulate widely on Russian-language media and social networks, blurring lines between official threats and propaganda.

Note: OSINT counts exact specific statements vary by how “threat” is defined (explicit threat of use vs. broad warnings tied to Western support). The table reflects independent events rather than continuous repetition.

2) Claims Russia Has Said the West is Supplying Ukraine with Nuclear Weaponry

Recent Formal Claims

• 24 Feb 2026 — Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) alleges UK & France plan to secretly supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons / technology.

This is a direct claim about Western nuclear support without evidence; both countries reject the claim as false.

• 24 Feb 2026 — Maria Zakharova warns any such action will get harsh response from Russia.

Implicitly, the claim that nuclear support is being planned was framed as a security threat.

• October 2 2025 — Dmitry Peskov says the West is afraid to talk about the transfer of nuclear technologies to Kyiv.

This acknowledges the talk of such possibilities, portraying it as Western fear rather than confirmed transfers.

• Late Nov 2024 — Russian State Duma labels Western nuclear transfer to Ukraine a “fatal mistake.”

While rhetorical, this reflects internal Russian claims framing Western support as potentially including nuclear elements.

Social / OSINT Claims About Nuclear Supplied Weapons

There have been numerous unverified social media posts and comment threads speculating that Western nations would or could supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons — including Russian-language forums and Reddit threads — but none are substantiated by official media. Such posts reflect propaganda/disinformation narratives rather than evidence-based claims.

Dates of Notable Claims

  • 24 Feb 2026 — SVR & Zakharova claims about UK & France nuclear transfer plans.
  • Oct 2 2025 — Peskov comments on West and nuclear technologies.
  • Nov 27 2024 — State Duma remarks labeling alleged Western nuclear support a “fatal mistake.”

These dates represent public instances of Russia claiming, without evidence, that Western countries are involved in nuclear provisioning to Ukraine.

3) Evidence from OSINT & Scholarly Context

Independent research and security analyses confirm Russia has used nuclear rhetoric repeatedly as political leverage in the conflict — often correlating with periods of Western military support debates — but there is no verified public evidence that the U.S., UK, or NATO have supplied or are supplying Ukraine with actual nuclear weapons. Analysts note that increased NATO and U.S. weapon transfers have been met with intensified Russian nuclear messaging as part of psychological/diplomatic pressure tactics.

Conclusions

• Official Russian Threats Linked to Western Support

From 2022 through early 2026, Russia has repeatedly used nuclear rhetoric — including warnings of use and elevated deterrence postures — citing Western support for Ukraine as a factor in strategic calculus. This has occurred across key events:

  • Feb 2022 invasion and nuclear alerting.
  • November 2024 nuclear doctrine adjustments.
  • Apr 2025 Shoigu statement about nuclear response.
  • Feb 2026 SVR & Zakharova nuclear warnings tied to alleged Western actions.

Approximate count: At least 6 distinct official nuclear threat narratives related to Western actions and support since early 2022.

• Claims About Western Nuclear Supplies to Ukraine

Russia has made a handful of public allegations (not verified) that Western states might provide or are planning to provide nuclear weapons / technologies to Ukraine, primarily:

  • 24 Feb 2026 — UK/France nuclear supply allegations (false claim).
  • Oct 2025 — comments on Western fears of discussing nuclear technologies.
  • Nov 2024 — State Duma statements framing alleged transfer as a crisis.

No credible public evidence from Western or independent sources supports that actual nuclear weapons have been supplied to Ukraine by NATO countries.

I also read this morning from the ISW that Putin is considering a mobilization again, so it’s possible this is a “this is why we’re fighting because otherwise the west could do this” type deal.

Let me put on my foil hat, because a lot of analysts were proposing this: Many in the West were afraid of the conflict in Ukraine. Not because they were fearful that the Russian Federation would win.

They were fearful that Russia could lose.

Putin is a rather basic creature who, while he has cunning, is completely lapped by the West and China as far as statecraft. 'Hit thing with stick and make thing move' will only get you so far in the 21st century. What I am trying to say is that it was feared that if Russia started to lose and lose badly, all Putin would have would be bellicose, nuclear saber rattling. Would he use those nukes? Probably not. Maybe even absolutely not. But he could just be a pain in the ass, going 'IMA NUKE U! IMA NUKE YOU!' whenever he wanted attention. And he would get that attention. He would become Rocket Man 2.0 and a headache for the rest of the world. And I think that is what the West feared so very much, they kind of just wanted UKR to roll over and take one for the team, so this didn't transpire. But Russia is losing. Even the half-assed softball pitches the current administration lobbed had no effect because of the self-sabotage that is the Russian Federation's creaking, hilariously corrupt system that makes logistics an absolute Monty Python joke. And now here we are four years into this thing, and Putin is indeed running for the nuclear bully pulpit. Whether you agreed or not that UKR should have thrown in the towel... We are here now. And Rocket Man 2.0 is looking like a reality.

So based on your comments and considering the info from @Lostpuppy, Russia's claims of UK and France supplying nuclear weapons to Ukraine could serve one or more of the following purposes:
  • Propaganda to support new mobilizations to satiate the Russian public
  • As grounds to justify the deployment of tactical nukes or to start laying groundwork for the use of a small nuke within the theater
  • To foment divisions between NATO members or fracture it further
  • A false flag operation to justify pending conventional escalation against Ukrainian infrastructure or cities
It's possible Russian intelligence services came across UK and France documents/artifacts exploring the feasibility of (but not authorizing) providing Ukraine a nuke, and this announcement is designed to try and proactively shut down such a transfer.

Friend,I like your tin foil hat , i prefer the gold foil!!!😂😂😂😂
I am not sure if i understand ,but
Definitely Rocketman2
Is it sabre rattling for sure, gangsta all the way,
When you have media magnifying this, it makes it worse.
If you follow the money trails, you will see why the west wooosed out on support for Ukraine.

Does a nation have a right to defend?
What would you do?
The signatories of treatys and accords from the 90’s convinced Ukraine to give up their nukes for??? What?

At what point do the peoples if the world stand up to bullys?

Lessons from early wars where appeasement went for years, have not been learned.
Getting sweaty under my foil cap😂😂

The other thing for me is look how dismissive the west and Ukraine are being. Even Ukraine hasn’t accused them of planning a false flag. The SVR also accused Ukraine in October of planning to bomb the NATO base in Poland to bring NATO into the war. They’ve made dozens of outlandish claims like this in the past year alone that haven’t come to fruition.

Tactically thinking,
dont respond as it gives the “blamer” justification
ignore as its likely another sabre rattle.
Watch carefully as an opponent will usually telegraph their next move..,.
So the west sits, watches … if a move has been telegraph ….
Ever play chess, sometimes a feined misplay is set up for the next moves,,,,
Game on

If i was Russia I would get material, enough to say its has a radioactive signal, drop it in ???? say near a oil line, False Flag,,,, check mate

Perhaps Ukraine has enough tactical nukes to announce it with a test? ( I have asked myself after 4-12 years of war vs Russia, why a contry with Nuclear experiance wouldn´t re-establish its own assurances, when it became clear that the Ink on those Budapest memorandums was not worth anything )

They would lose every ounce of support from the west if they did that. Now when the war is over….
