Why don't we want them to collapse?

It cost China a lot to support them. If they collapse, aside from nukes loose (which is the obvious problem ) most of the burden would fall on ROK and the UN (mostly US, but many others)

Why don't we want them to collapse?

Because:

Would cost unfathomable amounts of money to aid the sick and starving masses fleeing the country by the millions in the resulting collapse in place of true sanctions put on DPRK.
