An-22 on a test flight following a major overhaul at the "Aviaremont" Aviation Maintenance Facility in Ivanov, Russia; December 8, 2025. Seven orcs from the 18th Aviation Regiment KIA.
The maintenance work was carried out in accordance with technical specifications, and with due diligence, even though employees at the facility hadn't been paid since September, and most are furloughed. They managed to complete the work before the facility's electricity supply was cut off on December 12 due to unpaid bills.
So ends the career of the legendary An-22 - once the largest aircraft in the world. First flight on February 27, 1965. 68 airframes built between 1966 and 1976 in Tashkent (modern-day Uzbekistan). The aircraft seen in the photo was the last one in service.
