Socialism- Fascism- Nationalism - Isolationalism - Liberalism

Why are you repeating what I said? Yes, it was a joint effort. I was responding to the member who thinks it was only the US.

Well, these days that alliance between Westerners doesn't exist anymore... because of your asshole of a president.
And the last word here.

Now, back on topic : Analysis of Reports.

Please and thank you (says the worst offender) 😳

Of course, of course, the Soviets were liberal socialists....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
The Soviet Union was NOT socialist, regardless of what they called themselves. Nor were they true communists. The same reason why the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is not democratic, a republic, nor does it belong to the people. The same reason the People's Republic of China is neither a republic nor does it belong to the people. The same reason the United States of America is no longer United.

Too many people see the global political spectrum through American filters. True socialism is on the left side of that spectrum, basically one step further left than democratic socialism, which is what most American liberals are whether they realize it or not. Very few Americans are *true* socialists. So yes, socialism is a type of government based on the philosophy of liberalism.

I moved the topic of liberalism here. If you guys want your own thread just for that. Let me know. But figured this thread was a good as place as ever to discuss it since you where interlinking liberalism with socialism.

Always makes me laugh when I see Americans accuse each other of being socialist for wanting the sort of things you'd see in a European social democracy, meanwhile there are serious political parties in the UK that want to seize the means of production and put a workers committee in control of everything from factories to hairdresser shops :ROFLMAO:

Hell, every other week there's a protest on campus by the revolutionary communist party (luckily a fairly insignificant party)

You can afford to laugh; you don't live here.

As a UK dual citizen I concur, the downfall of Doctor Who has been too great to ignore and we must work to isolate the island nation as punishment.
After what RTD did to Doctor Who, I don't think we can be friends anymore. lol
Seriously... wtf was new-new-who season 2?

What people generally mean is the trend and direction of policies any particular gov or political party is heading towards.
Just as many Scandinavian nations would tell you they are not really socialist states.

Or Rino republicans who still believe they are conservative. Politics and management of government is never a clearly defined static thing. It’s an organic thing changing and moving.

Personally I like the Scandinavian system.
Wished it would work in the US. However it never will. It works in Scandinavia because they are small homogeneous populations. That share values, cultures, work ethic and civic duties. They also have sufficient economic resources to meet support there system.

That is a dream that will never be in the US. We are not small, nor homogeneous, we do not share a single cultural identity or ethic. What ever system that is put in place will always be subject to fierce competition.
