Can you cite Japans current and ww2 forces, likewise China?
Here's some stuff for you to look at.
Now the question I have is, would putin really align with xi in a hot war with the west and vs a versa?
Oh, and here is a breakdown of the US military. It is tiny compared to the end of WWII where I believe it was over 12 million, but todays US military is a modern professional force. No conscripts.

Japan’s defense ministry says NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte told Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi in a video conference that “security in the Indo Pacific and Euro Atlantic regions is completely inseparable.”

The call followed China & Russia joint bomber patrols around Japan, China’s reported fire control radar use against Japanese fighters, and a US & Japan air exercise involving B-52 bombers over the Sea of Japan.

Tokyo and NATO describe the discussion as focused on regional security, the radar incident, and ways to deepen practical cooperation. The “inseparable” line publicly links deterrence in East Asia with Euro Atlantic security, reinforcing earlier statements by Japanese leaders that see NATO and Indo Pacific partners as part of one strategic system.

B2’s That’s a big question mark. IMO they will fail to penetrate Chinese Airspace by 2027 to 2031 (yikes)
Subsonic so unlike the B1 they can’t leave the scene of the crime at the speed of heat. Probably best held in reserve to beat up non peer adversaries.
The B2 is a white elephant project that should have been buried long ago, freeing up substantial resources to spend on more useful weapons systems. Alas, pork barrel is a thing...

If you treat bombers solely as MREs (which is correct, IMO) then there's no justification for that $2 billion price tag.

It's also becoming unjustifiable to design bombers (or any other type of military aircraft, really) around meat-based AI which is inefficient, horribly expensive to train, and requires life support systems that inevitably compromise the given aircraft's usefulness as a military asset.

Yeah, It's what I've been thinking for awhile. They won't even need to use those hypersonic missiles right away. They'll just fly a million or so drones over to Taiwan and bomb the fuck out of them. China can make a million drones a day. How do you stop that?
At some point they'll have to mount a successful ground invasion. As I've said a gajillion times before - missile (or drone) terror alone doesn't win wars. Yes, I know @DEFCON Warning System disagrees, but he is provably wrong.

In order to enable a ground invasion, China will need to gain naval and aerial superiority around Taiwan - which necessitates neutralizing US naval assets should the US come to Taiwan's assistance (@Torch proposed a scenario in which it does, but in my opinion the US - or at least its current administration - has already given up on Taiwan, and will not go to war with China over it - even though they will never admit it until the missiles actually start flying).

Also, China isn't really capable of making "a million drones a day". My advice would be to never play fast and loose with the math - because if you do, you'll arrive at the wrong conclusions every time.

So it shows that Japan was alot stronger in 1938 then now. Oh Russia needs China for its expansion idears and its industrial capacity. Yes US had 12 million men in the military at the end of the 2nd world war.

The B2 is a white elephant project that should have been buried long ago, I think the iranians would disagree. :ROFLMAO: freeing up substantial resources to spend on more useful weapons systems. Alas, pork barrel is a thing...

I just hope we call it Chinese Taipei because I don't want to get banned from using this site and viewing it.
Got it. Sorry. Americans never worry about that.

I’m would hope we could reach an accommodation as the ROC even refer to themselves as that in various venues esp Olympic Games.

I don’t disagree.

The big price tags is to deliver nuclear gravity bombs on various capitals and high priority/ highly defended targets and RTB. It’s possible that direct energy weapons will safe skies from cruise missiles and interceptions may stop ICBM’s.

The Idea is to have a generation of stealth on hand to kick off Armageddon and get home (in time to get nuked). It’s sketchy stuff at times.

It’s hoped that having the ability to do so will stop attacks.

I’m biased to the bone

According to FlightGlobal’s World Air Force 2026 Report, the United States fields 13,033 military aircraft across all branches. US alone controls 25% of all military aircraft on the planet.

Japan has formally applied to participate in the EU’s SAFE (Security Action for Europe) defense financing mechanism, according to an EU Commission spokesperson cited by Ukrainian outlet Ukrinform. The move follows earlier applications by Turkey and South Korea and would allow Japan to access joint EU loans for defense projects if the request is approved.

SAFE is a roughly €150 billion loan facility designed to support joint procurement and strengthen European defense readiness under the ReArm Europe / Readiness 2030 agenda. Participation by non-EU partners is permitted within set limits, meaning Tokyo could become directly plugged into European defense industrial projects if negotiations succeed.

PRC MFA (Dec 18) escalates Taiwan messaging in response to US arms sales calls “Taiwan independence” forces “separatists,” claims they are “using force to seek independence,” “squandering” money to buy weapons, and warns they are turning Taiwan into a “powder keg,” saying this will “accelerate” the Strait toward war.

NOTE:
Official PRC narrative warfare aimed at deterring US & Taiwan defense cooperation and shifting blame for escalation. Treat intent claims as propaganda.

China urges U.S. to stop "dangerous act" following U.S. approval of massive arms sales to Taiwan

The United States should immediately cease its "dangerous act" of arming Taiwan, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday when commenting on the U.S. approval of a package of arms sales worth around 11 billion U.S. dollars to the Taiwan region.

The U.S. blatantly announced its plan to sell massive advanced weapons to China's Taiwan region, which grossly violates the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiqués, Guo said at a regular news briefing.

The U.S. move infringes on China's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, undermines peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and sends a gravely wrong signal to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, Guo said.
