It's all a quest for power. I hear allot of talk about the US being in retrograde and I believe it is just the opposite. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" and there is ALLOT of corruption in the US.

The quest for power is just a powerful a poison as absolute power.

From May 17 to 22, 2026, Japan’s highest ground operational command launched its first-ever joint military drills with U.S. Marines across the strategic Nansei Islands—the closest Japanese territory to Taiwan. The timing and geography of these exercises are a direct answer to the Chinese Communist Party's regional bullying.

Central to the operation is the establishment of a joint U.S.-Japan coordination center on Miyako Island, directly overlooking the Miyako Strait. This is the live execution of the allied "kill web" concept: integrating the military networks of the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines into a seamless, distributed strike and sensing matrix.

By turning these small, outlying islands into mobile anti-ship missile nodes, the alliance is sending an unmistakable message to the CCP. Any attempt to blockade Taiwan or force a crisis in the South China Sea will find the entire first island chain locked, loaded, and completely sealed.

President Xi stressed to President Trump that the Taiwan question is the most important issue in China-U.S. relations. If it is handled properly, the bilateral relationship will enjoy overall stability. Otherwise, the two countries will have clashes and even conflicts, putting the entire relationship in great jeopardy. “Taiwan independence” and cross-Strait peace are as irreconcilable as fire and water. Safeguarding peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait is the biggest common denominator between China and the U.S.
