Thailand & Cambodia Engaged In Military Skirmishes

I'm a little rusty on my geopolitics for this part of SE Asia. How could this turn into something bigger than just a skirmish between these two countries?

It likely won’t have major impact.
It is just a regional conflict
However it have some long term geopolitical influence.
 
The Royal Thai Armed Forces have now activated their “Chakrabongse Bhuvanath Plan” which acts as a blueprint for the deployment of air, naval, and ground forces, as well as a structured plan for intelligence gathering, operational readiness, and a response mechanism that prioritizes safety, in the event of a full-scale war with Cambodia.

The US is REALLY REALLY happy with Thailand and our basing rights. Our personal are treated very well and welcomed everywhere. Thailand knows they are the end of the line against Communism.

Thailand blew every bridge and sunk every boat or raft crossing into their country after we (USofA) threw in the towel with the South Vietnamese. It, like Kabul, serves as a lesson that our patience is not endless, and that there are in fact “Barbarians at the gate” and it is the USA standing between you and them. Thailand embraced that heart and soul. They dropped every bridge, and the post war “Friendship” bridge across the Mekong was and is wired to blow. Traffic is limited to one way.

Thailand 🇹🇭 not the USA 🇺🇸 approved the emplacement of million of mines to stop anyone from crossing and infiltrating.(of course we were handing them to them)

Do you know what Thailand calls “illegal Immigrants”? Dead. That’s what they call them. Make it through the mines and they shoot you.

Anyway, the USA will defend Thailand. Since we are not quasi occupying a country (like S. Vietnam) we will simply bomb the ship out of Cambodia (or Laos) . The Thai’s will be happy to fight on the ground.

Now que up the other shoe falling. China. They are quite happy with the status quo. They do not need millions (and millions) of refugees. Ignorance and starvation is all those to Stalinist countries can add to China. Therefore, IMO, China would join the war against the USA to stop that. Very similar to Korea.

Clashes between Cambodia and Thailand have continued into a third day, with sustained fighting prompting Thailand to enact martial law in provinces bordering Cambodia. In response, additional readiness orders have been issued across Thai Army, Navy, and Air Force commands. The Royal Thai Navy has begun operations near Trat Province following a nearby engagement with Cambodian forces. Meanwhile, Thai ground units have reportedly seized control of Phu Makhua hilltop, marking Thailand’s first confirmed ground incursion into Cambodian territory since the conflict began.
