Discussion is discussion without biase and general public can have the opportunities to be open minded, understand things from different angles , obtain new information and outlooks on said topics.
Again 100%. As I said in previous post this thread discussions has a more rule relaxed atmosphere where ideas and analysis can be shared and discussed freely.

(Just don't talk about conspiracy theories. 😂😂)

That's a whole different conundrum. 😅 what was a conspiracy theory in history has become fact in some cases🧐. And current conspiracy theories could become fact in the future🤔. We just aren't that enlightened yet.😅😅😅 I won't push my luck . Life is full of boundaries, it isn't hard to adjust to minor inconveniences.🤣😂🤣🤝👍

I just can’t see how he can draw this conclusion. Despite having to retreat in the north east, Russia is steadily advancing in eastern Ukraine and currently holds about 20% of the country’s territory. They seem on course to surround Severodonetsk. So while it is a slow and grinding war, I can’t see how he can conclude that Russia is currently losing now that it has scaled down its war aims, focussing on the east. Obviously things could change, I’m not saying Ukraine couldn’t turn things around, but sadly I don’t think it’s looking too good at the moment.

Yes if updates on situation is what your after than check out reports. Discussion is not the place for updates. Now in saying that, maybe Discussion could be removed as like you say it is pointless for most who actually are not open to discussion, thoughts, opinions or should I say different opinions etc etc. Or like I say if you don't like it scroll on until something tickles your fancy. This way reports are reports

Honestly I would be very disappointed should it be removed or cracked down on with control and rules besides the ones that currently exist. But hey , oh well , that's a topic for admin to discuss. 🥱🙄🤷🏻‍♂️
Discussion with without a logical reason for you position or defending it without historical facts might be 'discussion". But its not communication its just talking out loud with out hearing or reasoning. Really sad. lost opportunity to actually understand what others are trying to say.
You discount "printed media'. Well what is it then you are forming your opinions on? gossip, youtube . You are correct media across the board all has slant. you read it compare it to other sources that are self confirming, you weigh the motives you look at historical record of both parties involved then you make a judgment. But just saying it ain't so or trying to reason through it or respond to legitimate questions. or to throw up some laugh emoji's and claim its all just opinion. That's just talk for the sake of talk, its not discussion.
That is the same thing that goes on on twitter and it severely devalues the potential for moving forward. Soon it just becomes a bunch of talking icons on a screen with no meaning or value behind them.
I've learned quite a bit here, but not so much anymore.

Sure Ukraine cant turn it here and now and we get alot of western propaganda to keep the morale and intents alive. In the long run they have longer ranged weapons and techknowlogy (conventionel) that will slowly but surely grind the Russians to death. Russia can pay with its soldiers life and morale to extend the war hoping that things in the future could turn ( If other actors or events split the western powers resources ) Ukraine loosing Severodonetsk will not change that.

When you set your goal at overthrowing the government or straight up annexation, and have to settle on defending the lands your originally stole; well I would call that a loss. Changing your goals after getting your teeth kicked in doesnt make you a winner.

In January 2020, while the USA was focused on what the War Department's Colonel Alexander S. Vindman had to say, the global COVID-19 pandemic was being ignored, and no one was taking defense of USA seriously from that mass-murdering disease. One million dead Americans later, to persuade USA public to do more in Ukraine, I would not be bringing Col. Vindman out. His timing contributed to one of the worst tragedies in American history in a century. Or Kissinger either. Some guys need to learn how to retire, take up a hobby, and discover the words "no comment."

" 'I think Mr. Kissinger still lives in the 20th century,' Oleksiy Goncharenko, a Ukrainian member of parliament, told CNBC."
While pointing out that Henry Kissinger should be living a life of quiet retirement and hardly a voice for 2022 world security issues... I find myself asking...

And so what ....? Because the reality is - on nuclear weapons so is the rest of the world.

Because as long as nuclear security is dependent on MAD versus actual real DEFENSIVE measures to PROTECT a country... we are indeed stuck in the 20th century with USA Department of War and the former USSR's Department of War, not to mention Communist China's ability to destroy our planet as well. The only difference is that we now can destroy more of the world faster, we have more bad actors with high altitude EMP weapons, we have more electronics in absolutely everything including your refrigertor, and old 20th century processes and systems are held hostage to same "advanced" high-technology systems which can face cyberattack and electronic attacks. In short, in terms of nuclear survival we ARE still in the 20th century, but in terms of other world threats, we have even more ways to threaten and destabilize the world.

Just like it is easy for a Government to be generous in spending with someone else's money
it is also easy for President Zelenskyy to be "brave" with someone else's lives.
The lack of concern about the lives of the Ukraine people's actual lives, not only by the criminal Russia invaders of Ukraine, but also by its own government (which seems to be a "normalized" attitude towards life in general in democratic nations we support).

-- 4,000 dead Ukraine civilians "officially" reported by UN today, including 260 children, with "actual toll is much higher."

When 1 million dead Americans are a shrug, what can any of us expect in terms of defense of human life?

" Changing your goals after getting your teeth kicked in doesnt make you a winner." If you get back up and keep fighting it doesn't make you a loser either. I keep seeing reports of slow and steady russian advances in the east.

"it is also easy for President Zelenskyy to be "brave" with someone else's lives." I think he has been very brave by staying in the capital and making daily televised reports on the war effort when there are russian special forces trying to kill him. They are no joke and I would not want them to come after me.

Are you aware of human history of human nature, the natural history of animals.
The world your talking about does not exist.
You can run, hide, or fight. Or you die.
Until both sides are willing to make concession the fighting will not stop.

It’s just not the real world

So far, there is no movement by Poland to invade Ukraine. I don't know where Russia is coming up with this scenario beside an active imagination.
Sorry to just comment, Germans had the same illusions in ww2 hoping they could make a seperate peace with England/USA and then beat the Sovjets. ( Also when AH realized he couldnt win the war, they continued the war in the hope that events outside would change for the better - just read what they thought when Franklin D Roosevelt suddenly died )
