I fully agree with Future Finder's assessment of using prudent caution. Granted, because I'm an older person, I fully remember the last time that we got this close. A line by line comparison between then and now really can't be fully made. Like I've said before, for more modern times, these are uncharted waters. Granted, fighting is occurring as I write this. Lives are being lost or either injured, people are scared, evacuations are taking place, there's a run on the ATM's over there, you've had two different explosions that affect critical infrastructure to about 40% of Europe. I'm sure, if nothing else, you'll certainly see fuel prices take a drastic jump after that incident. So yea, this is affecting all of us in one way or another.
Then you see the announcement of some sort of a simulated nuclear test by Russia for tomorrow. DWS is correct in making the suggestion of just showing a yawn by the 3 letter alphabet agencies in the US gov. I just wish I knew a pizza delivery guy that catered to the WH. You might think it's funny, but that delivery guy could tell you a bunch when it comes to an increase of orders IF and I say IF anything is really going on or if they are taking tomorrow seriously.
Here's the real problem. It only takes one mistake and someone doing something stupid on either side of the coin. If stupidity reins, we could easily be reading the next forum in the upper stratosphere. That's quite a sobering thought.
Let's make something clear right here and now. Am I saying that something bad is going to happen??? NO NOT AT ALL. But, am I saying that something COULD happen??? Regretfully, I have to answer that one with a yes. Tensions are very high right now. People are angry, upset apprehensive and maybe scared. That's a normal human reaction--especially when we have no control of anything that could go on.
See, here's the difference in the thinking of the generations. Most of the people in the working years now, have pretty much a dependency upon computers and higher technologies to do their work and go through life. But, the real underlying problem with that is that too many people DEPEND upon those computers and high technologies, INSTEAD of using the products as a tool to be more productive. And, with the youngest ones in the working years don't know any other way to accomplish their tasks without a computer.
It's so sad, and I've seen it on either comments or replies or something being completely put out on the forums that makes me think those folks 'think' of these circumstances as something like a video game or something with a high excitement level. Woe be to those ones that think that way--because they will have a real sudden dose of reality if things go south.
I usually don't make recommendations here, but look up under emergency readiness and look for my post of Final thoughts #7. Folks, these next few days could be really dicey. I did catch one video that showed the statements from Russian television stating and I quote " We are going to war with Ukraine--if NATO gets involved, it's headquarters will be hit". Now folks, if that statement is more than just "hot air", we could seriously be in trouble.
The only thing that I didn't post anywhere in those past series were some possible indications that something might be brewing. Here's what I think you might want to observe and put in the back of your mind for a couple of days. Cyber attacks are going all over the place. It wouldn't be the fault or lack of monitoring by DWS or any of the guys on the board, because if there's a cyber attack, we are suddenly made blind and deaf. If you discover something "funky" with the internet, or GPS, or electrical or infrastructure depending upon communications---that might be the only warning sign that you might get. So keep that in the back of your mind. If you suddenly lose cell service where you know that you usually get a good signal--that might be the only indicator. Years ago, we could reasonably trust good ole AM or FM radio. But a bunch of that stuff now is transmitted up to a satellite and then re-broadcasted. Well, it only takes one satellite killer, or even a stray meteor and that's now down. See?? Technology is nice, but it's also very fragile.
Now, I'm not pushing any faith here or beliefs. Yes, I"m Christian. That's all I"ll say there. But, regardless of your faith or belief, it might be a very prudent time for you to have a good talk with your God and make sure y our life is straight and especially your heart. If you ask him for anything during this potential crisis situation, ask him for a resolve to the situation, ask for protection of yourself and your loved ones, and even more important than that, ask for his guidance and wisdom.
In summary, why did I make such a long post? When I was 18 years old, many many years ago, I swore an oath to protect and serve the community that I was hired to protect. I took that oath seriously then--and even though I have that gold retirement badge a nice plaque, etc., I still take that oath seriously to this very day. That's why. It might be the only way that I can still make a difference.
God bless.
