We will know when a invasion starts. Not just troops rolling into a already proclaimed russian AMNEXED territory.
No matter how hard Russia or the West try to cover up the begging states of a full invasion will be next to impossible.

Judging by the current events I see it unlikely, unless Kiev will go all in. Which they won't without a significant backup. I could be wrong here.
On a side note there is a difference between annexation (Crimea) and recognition of independent states. There are multiple unrecognised states around the world, like Turkish Cyprus which is in fact Turkey. In the view of global community it is a much less crime. If Putin goes with annexation, that would be met with a much harder response.
