Turn the valves/levers of money, market access, mobility, and military perks. Make every day he drags his feet materially worse than the day he signs. There are mechanisms in EU to make Oban more cooperative.autocratic. There are many things the US could do too similarly.
That not an answer. It’s vague generalizations. The USA can do none of those things to Hungary alone.

The USA would absolutely hammer the EU if they placed tariffs on Texas to get a governor to vote a certain way or to get rid of him. Think it through. It could lead to war. (Europe, shady Texas not the US hammered Hungary. They hate hungry. Probably zero chance of a war.. the other dumber things have happened.

Suddenly you or the rest of right is concerned what Europe might think or do, interesting.

So trying to take Greenland, questioning US NATO commitment, and the tarrifs/trade war already on Europe where just not on the mind then?

But punishment of Oban is suddenly a step to far against Europe? Your kidding right?

I’m sorry, I don’t think they even qualified as answers let alone good or bad answers.

You have to come back to Trump Trump Trump. You guys hate Trump so much you can’t see reality.. nothing that I’ve said is new. Getting any kind of assistance out of Hungry is a bitch.

Thats the nail in the coffin. EU won't use the very real mechanisms that they could use to make Oban more cooperative. SO too could the US. It is not just on Europe. But you are right Europe won't take the first step.

Still does not mean in any world we should be kissing ass or apeasing Oban. Again what wonders that has done the past 10 years. Other than emboldened him. 🙄
Every thing you said it true afaik.
We should not have to kiss Orban ass

He he I wrote Obama ass. Look who is partisan! Oops.

Well if you read my posts. Have not really talked about Trump but real talking points with real substance on what can and should be done. Even agreed with you on some things. With that. I guess have a good day sir. 🤷‍♂️

Again I am not really disagreeing with you, I agree. Not sure why we really arguing... I agree Europe won't and has not done much or anything. But same for US.

However still doesn't mean we should kiss his ass. Even if Europe won't do anything.

I thought we where all taught young that two wrongs do not make a right. Just because Europe won't do anything does not mean we should not too.

Well if we dissolved NATO we certainly wouldn’t have to deal with Orban!

Also If we left NATO we wouldn’t need a vote to absorb Greenland as a protectorate. Nice. That two pluses.

We could also save about a third of our war budget by not protecting a richer larger and more populous Country.

Wow If I knew we were having a NATO/EU debate this morning I would have studied
🤪

Don’t get in a huff there. I’m just teasing you. You know you have almost completely stayed out of politics here and I appreciate it. You are more fun then, and a lot happier. Me too really. I’m sorry I provoked you .

Moot but fair point. See I could get behind leaving Europe if it meant the money we saved from protecting Europe went to the American people in the form of free Healthcare and Education. But that's another subject and to political for me to get into.

I agree. Just wish it would go to funding the American peoples well-being and not to corporate tax cuts from the money we would save not protecting Europe. But again off topic and to political for me to get into. My new rule is to stay out of politics here and in real life. For good.

Nope. Well I guess the US could but the entire EU is required to respond…even when they don’t want to.

Not much different than therapy a US state or Indian states although I don’t believe the states are or have claimed to be sovereign. Could you could clear that up, please.?
I'll look into it and whether it's even possible

Sooo..... Two days... Zapad 2025 will finally end. Hopefully it ends...
I’ve been wondering: if they were to pull any funny business, would they do so directly after with the forces they already have there (i.e. a blitzkrieg) or keep on amassing troops/weapons/supplies as they did before the invasion of Ukraine? Wondering how a potential invasion scenario would play out from this.

Tusk said that pro-Russian sentiments and hostility towards Ukraine are growing in Poland.

Seems like the fear of being dragged into this war are making people fearful. It's the same fear I hear and see in the US. It's an advantage for Putin.

Well, before invading Ukraine, they said they were conducting drills that would end… only they never ended. That’s my fear here... either they use this to keep a significant presence on NATO’s border… &/or they use it to start something with NATO.

A full-scale invasion of NATO by Russia? Even if it's just Poland, they would need a hell of a lot more equipment and manpower than is involved in that exercise, unless they plan on using tactical nukes, which is complete insanity. Not to mention they would be initiating a two-front war, which is what cost Hitler the war in Europe.

That being said, I believe they would leave all the equipment in place, recall the troops, and then quietly send the troops back in a few months just like they did with Ukraine, then launch a blitz attack across the border. Problem with that is, if Russia doesn't establish air superiority first, it will be a short-lived invasion, even without NATO using nukes.

Would Putin really do something that stupid?

Depends on how desperate he is. But since most information coming from (or out of) Russia is minimal or not trustworthy, we can’t truly gauge how desperate he is, sadly. That makes this the most dangerous guessing game the West has ever played, imho.

If there is one thing Putin and by extension Russia is good at is keeping its cards close and keeping people guessing what they want or how they really feel.

Russia deployed Iskanders near Poland:

@DEFCON Warning System @RiffRaff @7gtz @Torch @Irag8er

Nuclear capable, medium range missiles with minute level flight times mean miscalculation can spiral fast.

With MRBMs near Poland, the decision loop shrinks to minutes a mistake can outruns diplomacy...
There was a post about this yesterday, they’re in Kaliningrad which they’ve been in forever.
