Russia has passed its test against NATO-US, now the path is clear for Russia. Trump's reaction was lukewarm, especially since the NATO commander in Europe is American.
They flew surveillance drones into Poland, they didn’t storm tanks across the border.
Edit
Yes I understand this is serious but the amount of posts I’ve seen, not on this site, calling for airstrikes on Russian territory is wild. NATO isn’t going to respond to this with kinetic action nor have they in response to the dozens of other airspace violations over the past 3 decades. So acting like the response to this is the same as the response to an invasion of NATO territory is a delusional take that does nothing but feed the kremlin’s goal of creating instability and lack of trust in western institutions.

Nah these weren’t just surveillance drones unless you want to call it recon by fire.
They could have been armed though at this point none were as far as I know.
I say they could have been armed not because of what was downed. But by the number and flight paths. There was no way for air defense to know for sure. It was in the execution of their crossing the boarder and flight paths that defined them as potentially armed.
And in the heat of incursion and response is how purpose of the incursion is defined.
So from that prospective it was a provocation to be sure. One that will need responded to.
Start a war not so much

The drones that were used were Russian recon drones that are typically used as decoys versus their shehed copy. I’m just more so arguing that to compare NATOs response to a provocation like this versus an actual strike or attack is not genuine.

You launch decoy or recon drones in those numbers and dispersion into a nation you are not at war with.
That nation has no other alternative at the moment of the incursion then to rightfully assume it could be an armed attack. Ukraine has demonstrated that armed delivery systems can come in all shapes and sizes.

So whatever the debris shows them to be is irrelevant.
At the moment of they’re incursion until they were downed it had to be assumed they could be armed.
It is this light the whole incident has to be considered. It’s so far over the top it’s insulting.

Either way I guess this makes it ok for RQ-170 Sentinel’s to roam at will over Belarus and Russian.

German media have reported that Russian spy drones have flown over Germany several times in recent months. At the same time, the seizure of a suspicious ship in northern Germany on suspicion of espionage for Russia made headlines.

Interview with Leili Nikfar and Ali Hassanpour, Iran International correspondents.

Holy fuck. Just shoot them down. Quit pussying out to the bully.

Interesting theory I read this morning. Someone suggested one of the motivations behind the drones in Poland is to make NATO stingy with air defenses. If nato believes they have to deal with more of these they’re more likely to hang on to these rather than give them to Ukraine.

No reaction to the drone incursion from the WH (other than that cryptic tweet which nobody understands), and at this point there's no reason to believe there will be a reaction.

In the meantime, Trump has managed to lavish praise on Lukashenko, while JD made remarks on how US would be eager to do business with Russia - but for the ongoing conflict.

Actually there was a reaction from the US ambassador to NATO.
But trump…well is Trump

AKA a nobody.

I've said before, I'll say it again: Trump will not confront Russia under any circumstances, and therefore NATO is effectively dead. Whether Europe can get its sh*t together remains an open question - but Putin could nuke Poland right now and Trump would still do nothing.

Moscow is, of course, watching closely, and this non-reaction from the WH will greatly accelerate continental war in Europe. Which, I suspect, is what the shady figures hiding behind Trump's back actually want - I guess they belive it eliminates Europe as a "competitor" to the US (which means they're very, uh, "special" in their own right, because your real competitors are definitely not in Berlin, Paris or London).

If Russia does something egregious and indefensible, and it riles up the American public, Trump might actually confront Russia.

In this day and age the American public remains riled up for two-three days max, until it finds some other thing to be riled up about. Trump can absolutely ride it out.

I don’t think that trump will have the consensus even inside his government to just say…”good luck”.
Europe is still a fundamental partner to the US economy and geopolitical interests.

Without taking into account the immense quantity of people having parts of their families in Europe

Surely he wants to cut the economic ties as he publicly shown on multiple occasions, but it takes tens of years.

Trump a couple of days ago:
“with Poland all the way, and we will help Poland protect itself.”

The big problem is that you never know what Trump really believes and will do.
Positively or negatively speaking.

I disagree (respectfully of course 🙂). For example, suppose Russia uses a chemical weapon in Ukraine. Or assassinates Zelinsky. Or attempts a demo nuke. I see Trump responding and confronting Putin.

Trump actually compares positively to some people in his government as regards attitude towards Europe.

Many of the people running the US right now have no idea what the words "geopolitical interests" even mean, and those who do - do not care, because they don't believe going against the US geopolitical interests will impact them personally.
