Russia Outspends All of Europe on Defence — FT


Financial Times quoting a study by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS)


In 2024, Russia's defense spending will increase by 42% and reach 13.1 trillion rubles (about $462 billion). Defense budgets of all European countries together in 2024 amounted to $457 billion.


In 2025, Russia's total defense spending is expected to reach 15.6 trillion rubles.


The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) warns that reduced US support for Ukraine could increase pressure on European nations. Donald Trump urges Europe to boost defence spending to 5% of GDP.

The Moscow Exchange (MOEX) the principal stock exchange in Russia, suspended trading after a “data transmission” issue, according to the Moscow Exchange group.
On a yet unrelated note, the Russian Ruble and stocks have seen a bit of a rebound since U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Ruble, recently closed at the highest level since September of last yea, according to Reuters. Should this story see any significant updates, this post will be updated.

“What is believed to have been a Russian Drone, impacted the Roof of the Containment Structure around Reactor No. 4, at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) in Northern Ukraine last night, causing a Small Fire. Reactor No. 4 is the Unit which suffered a Meltdown and Explosion in 1986, resulting in the Worst Nuclear Disaster in History; however, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) states that an increase in Radiation has not been detected at the Plant or Reactor No. 4.”

The Air Force destroyed the platoon stronghold of one of the Russian battalions in Kursk.

We are talking about the strongpoint of the 28th Rifle Battalion of the 60th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces. It was used to launch drones that attacked Ukrainian defenders in the Sumy region.

#Quick Analysis
The already minuscule Russian advances in Donbas have further slowed down. In the last 3 weeks Russians took not more than 23 square kilometers, or in other words, around 1 square kilometer per day.

On top of that, Russian bloggers reported that Ukrainian drones absolute dominate the skies of Pokrovsk. Russian vehicles are getting methodically destroyed and cannot be effectively used, to an extent that Russian human material needs to be disembarked at spots more than 10 kilometers from the front line. The rest they walk on foot. Many if not most of them don't make it alive to the contact line. It even enabled Ukrainians forces to partially reverse Russian gains in the Pokrovsk sector..
