Maybe I’m just over on edge but this is not an official Russian vessel it’s technically a Russian fishing vessel they’re investigating to make sure it’s not a spy ship.

“A Russian vessel anchored in the Strait of Jyväskylä is undergoing an official operation, reports the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

The Swedish Coast Guard is joined by a Danish and a British NATO ship in the operation.

Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that a Russian fishing vessel called Mechanic Stepanov had anchored in Danish waters in the Strait of Jyväskylä on Saturday evening. The vessel left the port of St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

– The vessel has had some kind of engine failure that led to the ship's power being cut off, the coast guard told Expressen.

On Sunday evening, the ship increased speed and is now back in Swedish waters and heading towards Landskrona.

According to Aftonbladet, the vessel wanted to enter a Swedish port, but was denied entry.”
