South Carolina approves AP1000 nuclear reactor units at the V.C. Summer site in Fairfield County. The LOI starts a six week feasibility phase, joint selection of a project manager, evaluation of construction providers, and advanced offtake talks aimed at an MOU.
Santee Cooper states the goal is completion with private money and no ratepayer or taxpayer expense, with about 2,200 MW of carbon free capacity targeted. Westinghouse involvement is anticipated, and Centerview Partners and J.P. Morgan are advising.
