Let it be known I am fully in favour of a boycott of Russia - but not selectively, where we're not allowed to do business with them but everyone else is.
I do not want you to think I am griefing you or just complaining about India.

I like India and I completely understand your position.

If I (USA) shared a border with China, were a ground war can easy/ realistically take place I would be concerned and reacting to thing differnt from the USA.

I wish we had never signed the Memorandum pledging to aid the Ukraine against Russia. But we did, so here we are.

For the some of you, before you start think I’m ok with Russia’s invasion and evil behavior, I am not.

I’m say If Bill Clinton had bothered to follow the law a get a treaty through congress then we would have had US troops on the ground in Feb 2022 to deter or engage Russia. Maybe NATO would have ALREADY been there. This is a rabbit hole as had this happen in 1992 we could have put NATO troops there without a war. Try that today and it’s “On”

OR
If Bill Clinton had bothered to follow the law a get a NOT gotten a treaty through congress then we would have had a Nuclear armed and fully intact Urkraine.

The USA’s tepid support has only caused problems and lost people’s lives compared to the most desirable outcomes. Now an unequal seeming share of the burden is being asked of India. But it is only “seemingly” the extra India would have spent on oil would be (bar math here, fingers ands toes) far less then the Billions we have sent to Ukraine. (Over a Trillion afaik)

That is why your country seems to not be getting much love from the USA. Also most (all? Someone else will know) of the tariffs are just stopping your countries tariffs that steal from American workers. And India have been doing it since long that a reciprocal tariffs are seen as stealing to your country.

Your Tariffs on USA products was, from day one an unfriendly act and should have been addressed then and there. That part is on US. We were busy and we were obscenely wealthy. Now we are not.

We did not do much trade with your country. Now we do (or did 🙁)

I know, tldnr. Sorry.

And what has trump parroted this entire time MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN
So one should not endeavor to improve themselves or their performance seeking to attain past performance achievements.

That’s revanchism?

What exactly is revenge motivated by endeavoring to attain your best performance or outcome.
Or is this one of those deals where only participation awards should be handed out.

Thus, a good man, though a slave, is free; but a wicked man, though a king, is a slave. For he serves, not one man alone, but what is worse, as many masters as he has vices.

Making it better again was never for you or I. Cover a piece of shit in Sprinkles and glitter and it will still stink in a week.

I do appreciate your response, and I'm going to share our thought process here -

I can understand how it may feel like an unfriendly act to outsiders, but that was done for the sake of giving local industries a chance - the British left India as a wasteland with absolutely no industries or technological development. Allowing advanced Western products in without a barrier would have decimated local players and made us fully dependent on foreign countries for essential goods.

The tariffs put on us will affect imports such as jewelery, textiles, etc - but countries like Bangladesh or Vietnam who have lower tariffs are simply just going to scoop that up. Even if you put a 100% tariff on us it's still cheaper to make the products overseas than in America - the wages and cost of production gap are simply too large. Not to mention Indian textiles are the best in the world ;)

It’s certainly been better for me, both times. Trump got the VA lined out in 2016 and continues this term. Obama was terrible and Biden, to his credit did not go back and frank up the VA. Result: Much better

My portfolio improved massively in his 2016 term and has improved tremendously this time. Result: Greater.

We were over run down here with transient illegals as they paused on their trips to the NE for a bit of larceny and murder. Four legal Latino families who rent land from me were very afraid of the scum passing through. In the last 2 months it seems to have stopped. Result: better and greater.

It just a matter of perspective as best numbers I’ve seen still show the US hard split by only a 1-3% margin.

Trumps approval is about 93% with Republicans. You have 3% that still want to go hunting with Dick and 4% the are still looking for Elvis.

PS The wait time on my latest can went from over (2 days) a year under Biden to 3 days under Trump. Same everything, sans Entitled Civil Servants making their own laws and breaking. Way better, but not really greater. Jiust better.

This seems like a fair reasonable opinion. Are you feeling ok? Getting enough rest? ‘Nuff to eat? PM me ifvI can help.
😇
No to be completely fair to Biden did continue the regulatory process to expand US uranium mining. He might have been more aggressive about it. But as far as I can read he did what he could without busting heads. And sometimes that is enough

the cartels are no joke living in a border state right now myself and i can assure you that no english/tattoos on the face is a guaranteed dangerous encounter even in broad daylight. people get kidnapped and murdered daily in NM and not even 1/100th of it sees national news. then you got people like this who live thousands of miles inland and think they know what we deal with
i was in the RGV for five years and there was always cartel and military having a shoot out almost every day. glad i was in harlingen, laredo across the boarder was really terrifying in juarez mexico.

Ok fair but the Tariffs should have been on the UK, not the US

The tariffs were not punitive to limit access to the market, that makes no sense. It was to encourage local technological growth - who would've bought Indian cars if you had Ford or Volkswagen in India in the 60s?

People, this is a discussion that needs to be had, but it is off-topic from the original post and tempers are flaring. Let's dial it down a notch, and let me know if I need to start a thread on the political discussion in the Politics Forum. Thanks.

nonetheless, this will most definitely need a reports and discussions thread. This will be needing extreme coverage.

📣🧹
I have taken the liberty of locking this thread and starting a new one. One with REPORTS & DISCUSSION threads as requested by Peter Griffin. Plus since this topic is surprising getting a lot of debate needs one anyways.

I am seeing a lot of REPORTS on this but have not posted it because of the debates being have here and me not wanting anything to do with it. This way gives me and others to post reports on this and also have a place to discuss it. This thread has lost its way. This will correct it.

I will be going through this thread and moving any off topic content to its own thread so other members don't feel their debates where shut down.
