US, UK, Australia AUKUS (Nuclear Sub Agreement) Developments

It’s a good thing to encourage goodwill and interoperability of NATO forces.

The US and French have interoperability of their aircraft carriers. Another military logistics strategy is nato nations ability to utilize midair refuelers of each other nations.
It’s a potent advantage because it make many one, when necessary.
An opponent has to recognize they are not facing one medium size nation. But dozens of nations large and small.
Sounds a lot like a multipolar world. But I doubt that is what Putin and Xi have in mind.

It’s genius in its simplicity.
Dozens of separate and disparate nations willing to cooperate and work together to a common end.
Eli Whitney would be so proud.

“AUKUS will bring about the sale of American submarines to Australia and the development of a new AUKUS-class design”

Isn’t New Zealand a nuclear free zone? We (USA) can’t take any of our submarines and all of our aircraft carriers there.

The main thrust of AUKUS is to bootstrap Australia’s nuclear program, both in propulsion and weapons.

Seems like a useless match to add NZ. They will take but not give…

Plus this would shove it (some place dark) to Chinese too. :)
The only thing they can add, is locations for bases kinda like NATO, actually exactly like NATO. I don’t think it’s people will do it.

They’ve been brainwashed for 40 years that “nuclear bombs are bad” < Spoken with a deep south accent, and channeling, my inner Jimmy Carter>

Yeah they said the same thing about Sweden's ironclad neutrality & how they would never join NATO. Look how quickly that changed.

People in The Western fold are quickly becoming aware of the dangers these new & old authoritarian aggressor are posing to the world.

Top US Diplomat Suggests AUKUS Subs Can Be Used In Taiwan Conflict:
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — AUKUS submarines could be used against China in a military conflict over Taiwan, the U.S.’ second most powerful diplomat suggested on Wednesday (April 3).
Speaking at the Center for a New American Security, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell linked the AUKUS submarine pact to Taiwan. He said the submarines would enhance regional stability, including in the Taiwan Strait, and suggested they could deter Chinese aggression toward Taiwan.
AUKUS possesses “enormous implications in a variety of scenarios, including in cross-strait circumstances,” the diplomat said. “I would argue that working closely with other nations, not just diplomatically but in defense avenues, has the consequence of strengthening peace and stability more generally.”
AUKUS is a trilateral security partnership among Australia, the U.K., and U.S., in which Australia acquires nuclear-powered submarines as part of efforts to counter China's power and influence in the Indo-Pacific. Previously, the three allies had cautiously avoided directly connecting AUKUS to China or increasing tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
Australia has said the submarines hold “the capacity to operate in the context of war,” but their primary goal is to increase regional security. Melbourne has also emphasized it made no commitments to support the U.S. in defending Taiwan in the event of a conflict.
Campbell argued that AUKUS will be increasingly important to Indo-Pacific security, saying, “What we're confronting now are challenges that require a much deeper engagement with allies and partners, and I think the idea over time will be in a number of potential areas of conflict and in a number of scenarios."
“I think those practical circumstances in which AUKUS has the potential to have submarines operating in close coordination that could deliver conventional ordinance from long distances,” he added.

Well they're certainly no friend of China.
They tried to be for a while. Or at least tried to be at least friendlier until Australia woke up and realized China isn't going to be their friend.

Australian Sailors to Work on U.S. Nuclear Subs as Part of Trilateral AUKUS Plan:
Australian sailors will provide critical maintenance support to American nuclear-powered attack submarines in the next stage of preparations to eventually command their own fleet under the security partnership among Australia, Britain and the U.S.
More than 30 Australian sailors will work alongside U.S. Navy personnel over the next several weeks during a Submarine Tendered Maintenance Period on the subs at HMAS Stirling, an Australian naval base.
“The STMP is a significant step in Australia’s acquisition of [the subs], marking the first time Australian personnel will directly participate in the maintenance of a nuclear-powered submarine in Australia,” U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Friday in a joint statement with his British and Australian counterparts. “Australian personnel will undertake hands-on learning and observe a range of activities during the STMP.”
