U.S. Pacific Fleet said USS Colorado, a Virginia class fast attack submarine, completed scheduled maintenance at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard 29 days ahead of schedule on June 10th.

USS Colorado is assigned to Submarine Squadron 7.

Pacific Fleet said the submarine supports missions including ASW, anti surface warfare, strike warfare, special operations forces support, ISR, and related operations.

Australian, U.S., & British personnel tested AI enabled drone swarming tactics during Army Warfighting Experiment 2026 on Salisbury Plain under AUKUS Pillar II.

Operators launched up to six drones simultaneously, while a shared command hub enabled near real time exchange of mission and sensor data. Engineers also evaluated aided target recognition, collaborative sensing and the exchange of AI models between the three countries.

Around 430 Australian Defence Force personnel, HMAS Sydney, ADV Guidance, an RAAF P-8A Poseidon and E-7A Wedgetail, clearance divers and maritime specialists are participating in RIMPAC 26 in Hawaii from June 24th through July 31st.

AUKUS Pillar II partners will use ADV Guidance to test subsea and seabed warfare capabilities intended to protect critical underwater infrastructure and advance interoperable underwater acoustic communications.

Australia appointed Leidos Gibbs & Cox Australia to lead preliminary design of a submarine contingency dry dock in Western Australia.

The facility is intended to support critical repairs from the early 2030s and is a prerequisite for Australia receiving its first conventionally armed Virginia class nuclear powered submarine.

This is a design appointment. Construction has not begun.

General Dynamics Electric Boat placed an approximately US$2 million order with Bisalloy Steel for Australian produced HY 80 submarine grade steel plate.

BlueScope will produce the raw plate, with Bisalloy conducting specialized processing and heat treatment.

It is the first Australian steel order for US Virginia class submarine construction and follows qualification to U.S. Navy structural standards.
