Vietnam & Laos concluded their third Border Defense Exchange following two days of bilateral defense activities centered on their shared border, including defense minister talks & engagements involving border areas and forces.
The USS George Washington carrier strike group arrived in Da Nang with approximately 6,000 personnel.
The carrier was accompanied by the cruiser USS Robert Smalls and destroyer USS Shoup. Planned activities include meetings with Vietnamese authorities, medical exchanges and maritime search and rescue discussions.
This is the fourth U.S. carrier visit to Vietnam since 2018 and the first by USS George Washington.
