Yeah, its so effective that most will hear at least a half dozen jokes about iodine before getting through the badge office at a DOE site.

I have pills for my children. I have more which is ostensibly KI in powdered form for two reasons: (1) to keep hope alive in my wife in the immediate aftermath of an event. I could care less whether its corn meal, I need it to help manage panic while determining what, if any, course of action there is for the kids (in the highly unlikely event there were any). Nor can I have her wondering whether we should jump into a line to get our locally distributed iodine rations if the signals say leave asap. (2) to potentially trade with a fool.

If you are using them for fear control then you already lost. Fear is a good thing especially in times of say a major disaster.

Fear is what drives our self preservation. Fear is what keep you alive. Without fear one becomes complacent which will lead to slip ups or lead to fatal mistakes due to a sense of false security.

So please don't give people the pill and tell them it will protect them from radiation. Be honest.

Because if they think they are protected from radiation then they won't be actively trying to avoid or be mindful of coming in contact with radiation. Without fear there is no self preservation. Plain & simple.

Should note... There is a difference between fear and panic. Fear makes you extra cautious or extra alert which is good. Panic is where one makes rash hasty decisions which is what you need to avoid.

Its all fun and games till a few ignorant Tankers steal the gas for the Generators so their tanks can keep running. NATO should be screaming at Putin to stay away from the plant. All the Nuke plants should have a 30 mile Buffer around them!!!

Thank goodness they haven't done this.
I mean, who's stupid enough to steal diesel from a nuclear power plant's backup generators? At least the Russians have enough common sense not to do it.

I mean they are already dumb enough to shell a active NPP. So not to far off to take the diesel to use for their trucks, tanks, and armored vehicles.

It's no secret Russian logistics are very poor and most in Russian front lack basic supplies including fuel. So... while unlikely I would not wright it off as impossible.
